Hubbard Street Dance Chicago Raises Over $1.1 Million at 35th Anniversary Season Spotlight Ball

Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, one of the world's premier contemporary dance companies, together with event Co-Chairs Meg Siegler Callahan, Elizabeth Yntema Ferguson, Sara Albrecht and Jane Strauss, hosted the 35th Anniversary Spotlight Ball on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance in Millennium Park and the Fairmont Chicago Millennium Park. The event was a major success for the organization, raising more than $1.1 million for Hubbard Street's educational, community and artistic programming.

2013 CFDA Fashion Awards Shined in New York

Last night, the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) paid tribute to the winners and honorees of the 2013 CFDA Fashion Awards and commemorated the organization's 50th anniversary at Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center. TV personality and Bravo executive Andy Cohen was the host for the evening. For the twelfth year in a row, the evening was generously underwritten by Swarovski.

FrostArt (The Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum at FIU) introduces two new exhibitions, both of which feature art as a tool to establish identity: How we see ourselves and how we perceive others, now and in the past. The two exhibitions, Six Degrees of Separate Nations: Ebony G. Patterson and Peterson Kamwathi, and Borders of Paradise: In the Eyes of Explorers, will have an opening reception on Saturday, June 8, 2013, at the Frost Art Museum, from 6pm-8pm. The wine and hors d'oeuvres reception is open to the public and free of charge.

If Betty Comden and Adolph Green were both born in Bombay, Singin' In The Rain might have wound up resembling The New Group's new musical, Bunty Berman Presents….  Not that Ayub Khan Din (book, music and lyrics) and Paul Bogaev's (music) Bollywood-set musical comedy is on the same level as that masterwork, but the spirit of silly 1950s MGM hijinks abounds throughout the evening.  It's got laughs, it's got tunes and it offers a fun, mindless time.
