BWW REVIEW: 'THE JUNGLE BOOK' SWINGS IN BOSTON

Music soars in Mary Zimmerman stage adaptation of "The Jungle Book" entering its final week at the Huntington Theatre Company in Boston, but this new theatrical version based on the Kipling and Disney classics is ultimately unfulfilling, needing more depth and heart.

The Huntington Theatre Company's production of The Jungle Book played its 100th performance on Tuesday, October 8 at 7:30pm and had another reason to celebrate on October 11th, when the legendary Ben Vereen stopped by to pay a visit. He was then surprised backstage by the cast and crew singing him a Happy Birthday, check out photos below!

Cygnet Theatre has long been committed to celebrating human stories through the medium of live theatre. In addition to presenting four readings of new plays, the three-day festival will include workshops for audiences, playwrights, and theatre artists.

Alex Masi Wins 'Photocrati Fund' Photography Grant Competition Award

Photocrati is pleased to name documentary photographer Alex Masi as the 2013 Photocrati Fund Fellow for his work documenting the long-term impact of the devastating 1984 gas leak in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh (India). At the time of the accident, 4,000 deaths were confirmed. By 2006, more than 550,000 people had suffered injuries from the gas leak and subsequent soil and water contamination. Now, thousands of people, mostly poor, suffer from debilitating neurological disorders due to this environmental contamination.

I saved my favorite for last of the Emmy Award red carpet pics: Julia Louis-Dreyfus. I know it is a cliche but she really does get better with age...like a fine wine...ok that's enough of that! But come one, doesn't she look FAB? This Monique Lhuillier gown is the epitome of awards show sophistication and glamour and Julia styled it to perfection by leaving everything else simple.

Multi-Platinum superstars Toni Braxton and Kenny 'Babyface' Edwards are the latest Grammy Award-winning artists set to join the roster of 'Special Guest Star' vocalists in the new Broadway musical After Midnight. With an impressive 16 Grammy Awards between them, Braxton and Edwards will join the company following k.d. lang, Tuesday, March 18, 2014 through Sunday, March 30, 2014. As previously announced, After Midnight will reintroduce the Cotton Club's exciting tradition of welcoming the stars of today in limited engagements throughout the musical's run. IYOM will play a four-week limited engagement at WorkShop Theater Company's Main Stage (312 West 36th Street, 4th Floor). Performances begin tonight, September 19 and continue Saturday, October 12. Opening Night is Saturday, September 21 (8 p.m.). Press are invited to all performances.
