New Village Arts Theatre is proud to announce the performance dates for the VERBITAS residency across three local schools: Carlsbad High School, Sage Creek High School, and Army and Navy Academy. Program creator Blake McCarty writes the original scripts and teaching artist Monique Gaffney co-directs. Professional lighting designers will also support the production: David Romero and Michael Rathbun.

Write Out Loud Story Concerts bring literature to life - aloud - with rehearsed readings by professional actors. Each program explores specific themes by weaving a variety of stories and poems together into a literary tapestry. David Fenner, Monique Gaffney, Catalina Maynard, Veronica Murphy and Walter Ritter will perform in The Windy City, Stories From and About Chicago. A complimentary pre-show reception starts at 6:15pm with a 7:00pm curtain.

Running in rep with WITHERING HEIGHTS, is the one-woman comedic show THE SEARCH FOR SIGNS OF INTELLIGENT LIFE IN THE UNIVERSE by Jane Wagner featuring Monique Gaffney and directed by Dr. Rachel Hastings. Ms. Gaffney plays 12 unique characters including Trudy, a bag lady who advises extraterrestrials about life on earth. The role is a tour de force, a one-woman rocket that propels the audience straight into the stratosphere while remaining hilariously grounded in our common human experience.

In-demand director Stafford Arima (Broadway's Allegiance, Off Broadway's Altar Boyz, West End's Ragtime) returns to the Globe, following Allegiance and Ace, to helm the award-winning drama, which runs now through April 30, 2017 on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage of the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Playwrights Project will produce its 32nd annual festival of Plays by Young Writers, sponsored by the Sheila and Jeffrey Lipinsky Family Fund, at The Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre in the Conrad Prebys Theatre Center at The Old Globe on January 19 - January 29, 2017.

Bringing together notable local actors, directors and playwrights, they have formed a new theatre company called THE ROUSTABOUTS. A non-profit San Diego theatre company dedicated to entertaining, educating, and inspiring audiences in southern California by producing fresh visions of classics, well-known contemporary plays and new works.

In their on-going focus on new works by local artists, Scripps Ranch Theatre presents two staged readings of VARIATIONS ON A THEME by award-winning San Diego playwright, James Caputo.  The performances take place at Scripps Ranch Theatre on the Campus of Alliant International University on April 14th and 17th at 7pm. Stephen Metcalfe, acclaimed author, playwright and screen-writer will direct.
