Keen Company's Keen Teens Begins Performances 5/9

The Drama Desk and Obie Award-winning Keen Company presents Keen Teens, the educational theatre partnership between Off-Broadway's Keen Company and the theatrical publishing company Samuel French. The writers for the program's eighth season are Kristoffer Diaz, Halley Feiffer, and Kenny Finkle, who have been commissioned to write thirty-minute, large cast plays, which will be produced with student actors Off-Broadway.

Performances begin tonight for Roundabout Theatre Company's third annual Roundabout Underground Reading Series. The actors involved in the series include: Pico Alexander, Fred Applegate, De'Adre Aziza, David Aaron Baker, Cassie Beck, Michael Chernus, Diane Davis, Dashiell Eaves, Ryan Eggold, Lisa Emery, Sue Jean Kim, Chad Kimball, Jessica Love, Lizbeth Mackay, Annie McNamara, Alex Mickiewicz, Aaron Clifton Moten, Olivia Oguma, Tonya Pinkins, Paul Pontrelli, Conrad Ricamora, Reg Rogers, Debra Jo Rupp, Campbell Scott and Max von Essen.

Ma-Yi Writers Lab & Playwrights Horizon Will Host Typhoon Haiyan Benefit, 2/17

Writers Lab, the largest collective of Asian-American playwrights in the country, continues its annual tradition of presenting a 'stunt' event, announcing today that this year's evening of brand-new short plays centered around a contemporary, pressing theme will be held at the Mainstage Theater at Playwrights Horizons. The event, called Mga Kasabihan, which is Tagalog for Words of Wisdom, will be a benefit for recovery efforts in the Philippines.

Asian Arts Initiative & InterAct to Launch New Play-Reading Series Next Month

Nationally recognized for his work in Asian American theater, playwright and director Rick Shiomi will visit Philadelphia to direct a new play-reading series, "The Way Home," co-presented by Asian Arts Initiative and InterAct Theatre Company on select Monday evenings this spring. Through contemporary performance, the free series explores diverse perspectives on what "home" means to the Asian American community and its constituents.

The Alliance National Graduate Playwriting Competition continues to spotlight the best emerging playwrights with a full production for the competition winner and staged readings for four competition finalists. BIKE AMERICA, the ninth competition winner, will premiere on the Hertz Stage today, February 1 - 24, 2013. Opening night is February 6, 2013. BIKE AMERICA is written by Mike Lew from the Juilliard Drama Division and will be directed by Mortiz von Stuelpnagel.
