MISS SAIGON at Fisher Theatre to Open Broadway In Detroit's 2013-14 Seaosn, 9/24-10/6

Miss Saigon, one of the most stunning theatrical spectacles of all time, will kick off Broadway In Detroit's 2013-2014 theatre season at the Fisher Theatre, September 24 - October 6. In Miss Saigon, Puccini's Madame Butterfly is brought to the modern world. Phillip Boykin, Jennifer Hope Wills, Tom Hewitt and More Cast in Music Circus' 2013 Season!

After auditioning performers in New York City, Los Angeles and Sacramento, California Musical Theatre Artistic Director Glenn Casale has announced casting for the 63rd Music Circus season, including Broadway veterans, Tony nominees and audience favorites from previous Music Circus seasons. The five-show season at the Wells Fargo Pavilion includes The Wizard of Oz, Show Boat, Sugar, The King and I and the Music Circus premiere of Chicago.

Born of the fires of dissidence, pioneering Japanese film studio Shintoho was founded in 1947 by employees of the Tokyo-based Toho Company during a strike (Shintoho literally means 'New Toho'). The fledgling studio promptly established itself as one of the major film producers of the second golden age of Japanese cinema, specializing in low- to no-budget productions that have become absolute cult classics.

The Arsht Center and the University of Miami Present GIRLS VS. BOYS, 11/1-18

Following last season's reinterpretation of Federico Garcia Lorca's classic The House of Bernarda Alba, the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County and the University of Miami's Department of Theatre Arts are partnering once again to present a fresh rock musical, GIRLS VS. BOYS, written by the creators of The Sparrow and Death and Harry Houdini - Chris Mathews, Jake Minton, Kevin O'Donnell and Nathan Allen of the renowned House Theatre of Chicago. Playing November 1 - 18, 2012 in the intimate Carnival Studio Theater (Ziff Ballet Opera House), GIRLS VS. BOYS is a captivating, dramatic story about the struggles of teen life set to a rocking, soul-bearing score. The musical is part of the Arsht Center's Theater Up Close series in the Carnival Studio Theater which features artistic collaborations from stellar local theater ensembles and nationally acclaimed theater companies.

Disney Theatrical Group Honors Kabuta Whitney

Co-hosts Thomas Schumacher, Producer and President of Disney Theatrical Group and Teri Schwartz, Dean of UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television (TFT) were on hand last night, April 7 to honor Elizabeth Kubota Whitney at New York's historic New Amsterdam Theater. The private reception was to acknowledged Whitney's generous $750,000 gift to The Jeanne Michiko Kubota Scholarship for UCLA's School of Theater, Film and Television. The scholarship is named in honor of Whitney's sister. Whitney started this scholarship to make a significant difference in a student's life, especially those suffering financially and having to put their dreams on hold. The endowment will fund the school's first four-year, full-ride scholarship for a theater undergraduate student.
