Houston Symphony Announces 2016-17 Season

The Houston Symphony's 2016-17 season, Andres Orozco-Estrada's third season as music director, celebrates more than a century of leadership in Houston's cultural landscape. In its 103rd year, the Houston Symphony announced the upcoming season at Jones Hall on Monday, January 25, in front of several hundred guests and supporters, emphasizing the institution's ongoing collaboration with living composers, a continued focus on new music, a renewed concentration on innovative programming, and world-class musicianship and entertainment. Houston Symphony Music Director Orozco-Estrada, Principal POPS Conductor Michael Krajewski, and Executive Director/CEO Mark C. Hanson were on hand to unveil the new season and share their favorite highlights.

Gallant continues to explore his disruptive musical proclivities on his sophomore release, 'Live Plus One,' due out today, October 9, from his Gallant Music label.

Massachusetts' Own SPIRIT WINTER PERCUSSION Ensemble Wins Gold Medal

?SPIRIT WINTER PERCUSSION (WP), a Cape Cod-based ensemble of 26 members ages 10-22, led by Richard K. Pugsley (Director) and Ian Hale (Percussion Director), scored 97.025 in Finals Competition today, placing FIRST in their division at the WinterGuard International (WGI) World Championships in Dayton, Ohio.

OKeh Records Announces Seven New Signings as Part of 'The Sound Of Next' Campaign

Following its re-activation in January 2013 with releases that included projects by Bill Frisell, Bob James & David Sanborn, Michel Camilo and John Medeski, SONY Masterworks' OKeh Records has announced their next wave of signings. The artists, who are part of the label's 'The Sound of Next' campaign are: saxophonist Craig Handy, Tunisian oudist/vocalist Dhafer Youssef, guitarist Nir Felder, drummer Jeff Ballard, saxophonist James Brandon Lewis, African vocalist Somi, and trumpeter Theo Croker.
