DreamWorks Theatricals and Neal Street Productions, Ltd. brought SHREK THE MUSICAL to the Broadway Theatre (1681 Broadway @ 53rd St) last night Sunday, December 14, 2008. Preview performances began on Saturday, November 8, 2008. The big green musical celebrated in full Broadway style and BroadwayWorld's cameras were there to bring you the starry arrivals for Shrek's big night!

Broadway's Aaron Lazar will guest star on the Thursday, December 4th episode of the ABC hit sitcom 'Ugly Betty', he'll be playing the role of 'Claudio'. The episode airs at 8pm (EST).

The Casting Society of America has announced more New York celebrity presenters for this year's 24th Annual Artios Awards, honoring excellence in casting. As previously announced, Broadway veteran and comedienne Julie Halston will act as Mistress of Ceremonies, and producer Thomas Schumacher, President of Disney Theatrical Group, will receive the special ‘New York Apple Award' at the New York ceremony.

Patti LuPone made a surprise appearance at Splash in support of her new CD, 'Patti LuPone at Les Mouches,' out next week. The CD was recorded in 1980 live at a Chelsea nightclub when Patti starred in Evita. She was introduced to the crowd by Ugly Betty's Michael Urie, whose mother she portrays on the hit ABC show.

The 20th Anniversary revival of David Mamet's Speed-The-Plow opened last night, October 23rd at the ETHEL BARRYMORE THEATRE (located at 243 West 47th St.) after beginning previews on Friday, October 3, 2008. The new show, recounting the life and times of legendary adult film superstar Linda Lovelace of 'Deep Throat' fame, is based on the Book, Music and Lyrics of Charlotte Caffey (founding member of 'The Go-Go's,) and Anna Waronker (singer/songwriter, founding member of 'That Dog.,') with the Original Concept and Lyrics from Jeffery Leonard Bowman.
