A little over thirty years ago Gerard Alessandrini was just another struggling young musical theatre actor who enjoyed doing what a lot of struggling young musical theatre actors do in between summer stock and dinner theatre gigs; write parody lyrics of famous showtunes.

Fall is my favorite season hands down, but before we are filled to the brim with candy corn, apples, pumpkin lattes and (in my case) birthday cake (Oct 9th is my bday!) I figured I would take this entry to reflect on what an outrageously special and exciting summer it's been!

The Original Broadway Cast Recording for the Tony-winning new musical comedy NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT will be available for digital download on Tuesday, September 25 and on CD Tuesday, October 30th. The album, released by Shout! Factory and distributed by Sony Music Distribution, is produced for records by six-time Grammy® nominee Robert Sher, David Chase & Tony Award nominee Bill Elliott.

Young Hollywood (hosted by Lesley Robins) went backstage to Broadway's production of the classic Gershwin musical NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT with Jeff Schecter, who plays Floyd. This behind-the-scenes peek looks at the show, its costume department, fun props and more. Plus, Schecter reveals what it's like to work with Matthew Broderick and what it was like taking over as the understudy for the Tony Award-winning role of Cookie, played by star Michael McGrath. Two-time Tony Award winner Judy Kaye, currently starring in the Tony-winning hit musical comedy NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT, will sing the national anthem at Citi Field on Thursday, August 9th for the New York Mets game against the Miami Marlins at 12 p.m. NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT, featuring music and lyrics by George Gershwin and Ira Gershwin and a book by two-time Tony Award-winner Joe DiPietro, stars Matthew Broderick and four time Tony Award nominee Kelli O'Hara. The production is directed and choreographed by three-time Tony Award-winner Kathleen Marshall. The production is now playing at Broadway's Imperial Theatre (249 West 45th Street).

According to a casting notice on Backstage, Shooting High Productions is casting an AGVA-sanctioned workshop/showcase of the Broadway-bound production of SUGAR BABIES, starring Tony Award winners Michael Mcgrath and Beth Leavel.
