McCarter Theatre Welcomes Kennedy Center President Michael Kaiser, 3/17

McCarter Theatre Center, along with New Jersey State Council on the Arts, ArtPride New Jersey, Lewis Center for the Arts at Princeton University, The Arts Council of Princeton and New Jersey Theatre Alliance, will host a discussion with Kennedy Center President Michael M. Kaiser on Wednesday, March 17 at 10:00 a.m. A meet and greet will take place in the lobby beginning 9:00 a.m. To attend this event, which is free and open to the public, please register by calling the McCarter Theatre Ticket Office at (609) 258-2787.

FOLLIES to Play Kennedy Center in '10-'11; Eric Schaeffer to Direct

As announced by Kennedy Center President Michael M. Kaiser, Follies, the Stephen Sondheim and James Goldman musical, will be included in their 2010-2011 season. The production will be directed by Eric Schaeffer, Artistic Director of The Signature Theatre, and choreographed by Warren Carlyle of Finian's Rainbow. Casting has not yet been announced, and additional production details are expected to be announced shortly.

The Kennedy Center today announced additional casting for Terrence McNally's Master Class. Joining the previously announced Tyne Daly as Maria Callas is Jeremy Cohen as Manny, Laquita Mitchell as Second Soprano (Sharon), Ta'u Pupu'a as Tenor (Tony), and Alexandra Silber as First Soprano (Sophie).

The Kennedy Center today announced casting for Terrence McNally's The Lisbon Traviata. The play will star Malcolm Gets as Stephen, John Glover as Mendy, and Chris Hartl as Paul and will run March 20 to April 11, 2010 in the Kennedy Center Terrace Theater.

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts today announced the selection of the individuals who will receive the Kennedy Center Honors of 2009. Recipients to be honored at the 32nd annual national celebration of the arts are: writer, composer, actor, director, and producer Mel Brooks; pianist and composer Dave Brubeck; opera singer Grace Bumbry; actor, director, and producer Robert De Niro; and singer and songwriter Bruce Springsteen.

A slew of Broadway talent joined in the 32nd annual Kennedy Center Honors on December 6th to honor acclaimed Broadway producer, Mel Brooks. The group included Gary Beach, Matthew Broderick, Richard Kind, Jane Krakowski, Matthew Morrison, Frank Langella and Martin Short. Brooks was honored as a winner of the 2009 Kennedy Center Honors for his contributions to both stage and screen.

Michael M. Kaiser, President of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, today announced a major gift of $5 million from Adrienne Arsht in support of musical theater programming at the Kennedy Center. Over the next ten years, The Adrienne Arsht Musical Theater Fund will provide support to produce and present a wide variety of musical theater productions at the Kennedy Center.

Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts today announced Arts in Crisis: A Kennedy Center Initiative, a program designed to provide emergency planning assistance to struggling arts organizations throughout the United States. Expanding on previously existing arts management programs at the Kennedy Center, Arts in Crisis will provide free consulting from both Kennedy Center President Michael M. Kaiser and members of the Kennedy Center's executive staff.
