Photo Flash: First Look at EASTERN STAR at Tara Theatre

8th August, 2018, marks the 30th anniversary of the 1988 student uprising against the military dictatorship in Burma (now Myanmar), and Guy Slater in association with Tara Arts is proud to announce the casting for its World Premiere production of Eastern Star, to be performed at Tara Theatre from 11th - 29th September. Press night is on Wednesday 12th September at 7.30pm.

London Theatre To Dedicate New Play EASTERN STAR To Two Imprisoned Reuters Journalists In Yangon

Tara Theatre in London has dedicated a three-week run of Eastern Star, a play about freedom of expression in Myanmar to the two Reuters journalists, U Wa Lone and Kyaw Soe Oo, given seven-year prison sentences in Yangon, for 'violating a state secrets act'. This news comes shortly after the 30th anniversary of the 1988 student uprising against the military dictatorship in Burma (now Myanmar) on 8th August.

Rupert Young Leads Cast of George Bernard Shaw's THE PHILANDERER at Orange Tree Theatre

Casting has been announced for George Bernard Shaw's THE PHILANDERER at the Orange Tree Theatre. Rupert Young (High Society at the Old Vic, Sir Leon in BBC's Merlin) plays Leonard Charteris, the philanderer of the title. He's joined by Helen Bradbury, Joe Idris-Roberts, Michael Lumsden, Dorothea Myer-Bennett, Christopher Staines, Mark Tandy and Paksie Vernon.
