Unplugged, Asolo Rep's fourth annual festival of new plays, showcases the freshest new talents writing for the theatre today. Presented in a bare-bones staged reading format, audiences have a chance to experience fascinating new works in the earliest stages of their development. Led by Associate Artistic Director and Festival Curator Greg Leaming, Unplugged has given Asolo Rep the opportunity to supplement its season with new works. The highlight of this year's festival is the premiere of the 2011 Greenfield Prize-commissioned work by eminent Tony Award winning playwright John Guare (Six Degrees of Separation, House of Blue Leaves), Eddie in the Andes. Each reading will be followed by a Q&A session with the playwright and the director.

Venus in Fur, written by theatrical mastermind David Ives opens in the Historic Asolo Theater Friday, April 5 and runs through April 28, 2013. Two preview performances are scheduled for April 3 and 4. Tea Alagi?, an exciting new talent originally from the Czech Republic, directs this comedy that explores the complex relationship between an aspiring stage actress and her playwright/director.
