Tonight was our first audience at the Capitol Theater!  It was exciting to finally share our creation with the 1600 friends and family that attended our final dress rehearsal.  Before it started, the whole cast was buzzed, nervous, excited.  After the curtain came down at the end, I sang to our genie, Michael James Scott, "We can never go back to befoooooore!" a la Ahrens & Flaherty. Tonight we crossed over a threshold, giving away what was once our private creative space. It's like spending 6 weeks making a fantastic cake, and then watching everyone enjoy it and eat it up.  But the process of making it ready, making it perfect… the anticipation phase… it's done.

Samuel Goldwyn Films and CMT announced today that Samuel Goldwyn Films has acquired North American rights from CMT for CHICKEN PEOPLE.

With plenty of wit, charm, and double entendres galore, Musical Theatre West's new regional production of the 2004 Broadway musical comedy 'DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS' is one enjoyably silly romp. The show which features a book by Jeffrey Lane and music and lyrics by David Yazbeck continues its final weekend at the Carpenter Center for the Performing Arts in Long Beach through July 24. Based on the 1998 film comedy starring Steve Martin and Michael Caine, the stage adaptation eventually garnered 11 Tony nominations during its run. For MTW's fun new local revival, the title roles---a couple of con men who've taken to swindling the riches off of easily-seduced women in the French Riviera---are embodied by stage vets Davis Gaines (now a multiple fixture at MTW) and the incredibly funny Benjamin Schrader (The Book of Mormon).

Weaver will receive a Donostia Award at the gala screening of the film on September 21st in the Kursaal Auditorium. The Festival's most important honorary award acknowledges the career of the North American actress whose name has presided over some of the biggest productions in the last few decades

The Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre has become known for not only its productions of classic Broadway musicals but its part in bringing a number of area and regional premieres to the Frederick stage. Christopher Birks and Dan Nicholson reprise their roles in Dan Coleman's production which tours to 14 venues around the UK this autumn, starting at Greenwich Theatre on 20 September.

Drury Lane Theatre continues its 2016-2017 season with Ira Levin's popular murder mystery, Deathtrap, directed by Artistic Director William Osetek. Deathtrap runs June 9 - August 14, 2016 at Drury Lane Theatre, 100 Drury Lane in Oakbrook Terrace. The Press Opening is Thursday, June 16 at 8:00 p.m.

Casting has been announced for the Union Theatre's final show in its current home. THE RISE AND FALL OF LITTLE VOICE stars Charlotte Gorton (Memphis, Viva Forever!) as Mari Hoff, Carly Thoms (Thoroughly Modern Mille, Sound Of Music) as LV and Ken Christiansen (Lord Of The Flies, An Inspector Calls) as Ray Say, with Glenn Adamson as Billy, Mandy Dassa as Sadie and James Peake as Mr Boo/Phone man.
