President Barack Obama awarded eighteen recipients with the 2014 Presidential Medal of Freedom today, November 24, at the White House in Washington, D.C. Legendary composer/lyricist Stephen Sondheim, who was set to be the nineteenth honoree, could not attend the event and will receive the award next year instead.

?President Barack Obama previously named nineteen recipients of the Presidential Medal of Freedom. The Presidential Medal of Freedom is the Nation's highest civilian honor, presented to individuals who have made especially meritorious contributions to the security or national interests of the United States, to world peace, or to cultural or other significant public or private endeavors. The awards will be presented at the White House today, November 24th.

Disney has shared a first look at 'Stay With Me', a number performed by Meryl Streep in the highly anticipated big screen adaptation of INTO THE WOODS.

ET recently interviewed INTO THE WOODS composer and Broadway legend Stephen Sondheim and actress Meryl Streep about adapting the iconic fairytale musical for the big screen. Streep talked about seeing the original Broadway production, starring Bernadette Peters as The Witch, while Sondheim spoke to EW about casting Streep in the part. Watch below!

Yesterday, BWW reported the sad news that legendary director Mike Nichols passed away on Wednesday, November 19th at the age of 83. Today, The Recording Academy issued the following statement on his passing:
