Oak Park Festival Theatre Announces 2017 Season Casts and Directors

BWW Interview: Talking and Tilting with the Talented Tate McRae

With the announcement that Fox's So You Think You Can Dance will be returning this summer, this time reverting back to contestants ages 18-30, we decided to look back on this past season's incredibly talented kids. From hip hop to jazz to contemporary, season 13 of SYTYCD certainly did not disappoint, showing us that age means nothing when it comes to talent. One of our favorite contestants, second runner-up Tate McRae, proved week after week that a 13 year old can be as marvelous a dancer as an adult, sometimes even better. McRae was kind enough to speak with us about her time on SYTYCD and her plans for the future.

Seattle Opera Premieres Bilingual Children's Opera

Bring the whole family to see Cinderella en España-a universal rags-to-riches tale that explores the beauty of kindness and the ugliness of mistreating others. Seattle Opera will offer its new Spanish/English performance at both its annual Frost Fest on Feb. 4 at Cornish Playhouse, and onMarch 19 at Kirkland Performance Center; ultimately, the production will tour more than 40 elementary schools statewide.

Newnan Theatre Company Presents ONE SLIGHT HITCH

Newnan Theatre Company invites you to the wedding of the century when they open the new year with comedian Lewis Black's play, One Slight Hitch in their Black Box arena. Most people probably know Black for his bombastic comedy rants on Comedy Central's The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, however Black first made his name in New York as Playwright in Residence for the West Bank Cafe Downstairs Theatre Bar in New York City. He wrote many short plays while there, but One Slight Hitch was his best-known full length play.

BWW Review: HURRICANE DIANE at TRT-Relevant and Boldly Creative

'Hurricane Diane,' a World Premiere show, is now being performed at Two River Theater (TRT) through February 12th. Commissioned by TRT, this boldly creative theatrical piece is written by Pulitzer Prize Nominee Madeleine George and directed by Leigh Silverman.

2017 Sundance Film Festival Awards Celebrate Global Independent Creative

After 10 days, 119 feature films and three feet of snow, an evening of humor and humanity marked the 2017 Sundance Film Festival's Awards Ceremony, with host Jessica Williams emceeing and jurors presenting 27 prizes for feature filmmaking in Park City, Utah. Honorees, named in total below, range from sharp comedies to provocative and timely documentaries and represent new achievements in global independent storytelling. Human stories prevailed across categories, with Grand Jury Prizes awarded to Dina (U.S. Documentary), Last Men in Aleppo (World Documentary), I don't feel at home in this world anymore. (U.S. Dramatic) and The Nile Hilton Incident (World Dramatic). Chasing Coral, showcased in the Festival's environmental program The New Climate, won an Audience Award in the U.S. Documentary category.
