Oakland University Music, Theatre and Dance MaTilDa Awards Set for this Weekend

The award ceremony, which is open to the public, will be held on Sunday, April 13. Oakland University's Department of Music, Theatre and Dance will present the 15th Annual MaTilDa Awards to honor outstanding contributions from Music Theatre and Dance students, alumni and community partners. The red carpet event is set for 6 p.m. on Sunday, April 13, at the Royal Park Hotel in downtown Rochester and includes dinner and entertainment. The public is welcome.

Laguna Playhouse to Present Leslie Caron & David Engel in SIX DANCE LESSONS IN SIX WEEKS, 4/26-6/8

The Laguna Playhouse Executive and Artistic Directors, Karen Wood and Ann E. Wareham are thrilled to present screen legend Leslie Caron, in her first Southern California theatrical performance in over 25 years! SIX DANCE LESSONS IN SIX WEEKS, written by Richard Alfieri, with choreography by Donna McKechnie (A Chorus Line) and directed by Michael Arabian (Waiting for Godot). SIX DANCE LESSONS IN SIX WEEKS will also feature 6-time Ovation Award-winning actor David Engel. "What an honor to have on our stage the incomparable Leslie Caron and the multi-talented David Engel," remarks Wood. "It's a dream cast and a dream come true. With Michael Arabian and Donna McKechnie directing and choreographing, this has to be one of the most anticipated productions in the Playhouse's storied history,' adds Wareham. SIX DANCE LESSONS IN SIX WEEKS will begin previews on Saturday, April 26 and will open on Saturday, May 3 at 7:30pm and run through Sunday, June 8, 2014 at the Laguna Playhouse, 606 Laguna Canyon Road in Laguna Beach.

Today, Artistic Director Robert Falls announces that his longtime associate, Producer Steve Scott, will direct Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, Christopher Durang's Tony Award-winning, 'deliriously funny, hilariously demented' Broadway hit, in Spring 2015 (dates TBA). A loving send-up of Chekhov's greatest works, Vanya makes its Chicago premiere in the Albert Theatre as part of the Subscription series in the theater's 90th Anniversary 'Season to Celebrate.' (One play is TBA.)

Cleveland Play House's INFORMED CONSENT Takes to the Second Stage, 4/23-5/18

The 2013-2014 season at Cleveland Play House (CPH) continues with the compelling world premiere production of Deborah Zoe Laufer's Informed Consent. Co-produced with Geva Theatre Center, this incredibly thought-provoking production is inspired by the real life court case between the Havasupai Indian tribe and Arizona State University, and sparks an intriguing debate on both ethicality and morality. Directed by Sean Daniels and Sponsored by Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, Cleveland Clinic and MetroHealth, Informed Consent will serve as the centerpiece to CPH's 2014 New Ground Theatre Festival and will run from April 23 - May 18 in the Second Stage.

Yale Rep to Stage World Premiere of THE HOUSE THAT WILL NOT STAND, 4/18-5/10

Yale Repertory Theatre, in a co-production with Berkeley Repertory Theatre, presents the world premiere of The House that will not Stand by Marcus Gardley, directed by Patricia McGregor. The House that will not Stand will be performed at Yale Repertory Theatre (1120 Chapel Street) April 18-May 10. Opening Night is Thursday, April 24.

The Hub City Our Town festival is a collaboration between the New Brunswick Cultural Center, George Street Playhouse, and six other New Brunswick arts organizations, including ARB.

American Blues Theater to Present Chicago Premiere of GROUNDED, 6/6-7/13

Syracuse Stage Announces 2014/15 Season

Syracuse Stage is pleased to announce the 2014/15 Season, featuring recent Broadway hits, award-winning shows, celebrated playwrights, and an international exchange. Kicking things off in September is the raucous comedy and 2013 Tony winner for Best Play, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, followed by the haunting and haunted The Piano Lesson, August Wilson's Pulitzer Prize-winning drama. The holiday season will bring 60s era music and dance in the smash hit musical Hairspray, and 2015 will begin with In the Next Room, or the Vibrator Play, a highly original seriocomedy about a particular medical treatment of the late 1800s. Nearing the end of the season, Stage will partner with South Africa's internationally acclaimed Market Theatre on the Tony Award-winning classic, Sizwe Banzi is Dead, and closing the season is Other Desert Cities, a sharp and smartly funny new play mixing politics and art.
