The Los Angeles Philharmonic Association, in cooperation with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, presents The Big Picture: A Night at the Oscars celebrating the legacy of Academy Award-winning films and music at the Hollywood Bowl tonight, September 1, 2013 at 7:30 PM.

The Los Angeles Philharmonic Association, in cooperation with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, presents The Big Picture: A Night at the Oscars celebrating the legacy of Academy Award-winning films and music at the Hollywood Bowl on Sunday, September 1, 2013 at 7:30 PM. From Casablanca to King Kong and Jaws to Up, with music composed by Max Steiner, John Williams, Michael Giacchino, George and Ira Gershwin, among many others, The Big Picture features clips and music from some of the most beloved and acclaimed movies of all time. Iconic scenes are projected in HD on the Hollywood Bowl's giant screens -including the four brand-new LED HD screens located throughout the venue - while the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, led by David Newman, performs live from the films' magnificent scores.

Megan Hilty, Matthew Morrison & More to Be Featured in Boston Pops' Spring 2013 Season

The 2013 Boston Pops season, May 8-June 15, under the direction of Keith Lockhart, will present a season-long tribute to the world of movie music, along with programs featuring a wide variety of American musical styles, including jazz, bluegrass, country, gospel, pop, classic standards from the 50s and 60s, and show-stopping songs of Broadway and the American Songbook. For the programs focusing on the season theme, 'Best of Hollywood Film Music,' audiences will hear their favorite music from classic movies and today's popular soundtracks performed live by the Boston Pops, while the accompanying movie clips are projected onto a giant screen suspended above the orchestra. Pacific Symphony Presents 'Casablanca' With Score Performed Live, 3/15-17

Pacific Symphony Pops sweeps the audience off to a world of romance, wit, intrigue and remarkable music as the orchestra recreates the score-live!-to the classic film, "Casablanca," shown on the big screen. Led by Principal Pops Conductor Richard Kaufman, the Symphony delivers the emotion captured in the triumphant soundtrack created by old Hollywood's best-known composer Max Steiner. Featuring the popular song "As Time Goes By," played by Sam (Dooley Wilson), the 1942 film is one from the Golden Age that has captured America's hearts for decades with the nostalgic love affair between Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman's characters. Set in exotic Morocco during World War II, with memorable characters, quotable dialogue-"We'll always have Paris," "Here's looking at you, kid"-and a beloved score, the film was an instant success, winning three Academy Awards including Best Picture and a nomination for Best Score.

Sony Masterworks Reissues Charles Gerhardt's Classic Film Scores Series, 3/1

SONY MASTERWORKS proudly announces the reissue of Charles Gerhardt's acclaimed Classic Film Score series. In the 1970s, the Classic Film Scores series introduced a new generation to the sumptuous sound of music in Hollywood's 'Golden Age.' The following releases will be available March 1, 2011 on CD and through major digital service providers: Citizen Kane, Sunset Boulevard, Elizabeth and Essex, Spellbound, Now, Voyager, Classic Film Scores for Bette Davis and The Film Scores of David Raksin; the first six titles were released in October 2010.
