The NY Dance and Performance Awards, The Bessies, New York City's premier dance awards honoring outstanding creative work in the field, announced the complete list of the 2017 award recipients tonight at the 33rd annual Bessie Awards ceremony. Awards were presented in the categories of Outstanding Production, Outstanding Revival, Outstanding Performer, Outstanding Music Composition/Sound Design, and Outstanding Visual Design, with additional awards presented for Lifetime Achievement in Dance and Outstanding Service to the Field of Dance. The NY Dance and Performance Awards, The Bessies, New York City's premier dance awards honoring outstanding creative work in the field, announce the lineup of special guests for the 33rd annual Bessie Awards. The ceremony, hosted by performance artist/entertainer Shernita Anderson and American Ballet Theatre principal dancer James Whiteside, will be held on Monday, October 9, at 7:30pm, at NYU's Skirball Center for the Arts. Doors open at 6:30pm for red carpet and pre-show celebrations.

The nominees were selected by the Bessie Awards Selection Committee, an independent committee of 38 dance industry professionals. NEW YORK, September 30, 2014 - The New York Dance and Performance Awards (The Bessies), NYC's premier dance awards honoring outstanding creative work in the field, announced today the host of the anniversary ceremony that is to be held at the legendary Apollo Theater. Broadway playwright, actress and 1993 Bessie awardee Lisa Kron will host the 30th Annual Bessie Awards. Produced in partnership with Dance/NYC, the awards will take place October 20, 7:30 p.m. Nominees will arrive starting 6:00 p.m. for Red Carpet press interviews and photo opportunities.

s, The New York Department of Parks & Recreation, Chuck Ginnever, and Gayle Maxon-Edgerton, GME LLC, announce two special evening performances by the Muna Tseng Dance Projects today, May 17 and May 24 at 7pm, whose newly commissioned choreography will directly engage with an exhibition of monumental steel sculptures by noted American artist, Chuck Ginnever. Medusa and High Rise, currently on view at Riverside Park at 145th Street, is situated overlooking the metal ice breakers and the George Washington Bridge, and has inspired the dance troupe's second collaboration with the artist, nearly thirty years after their first project together.
