The Public Theater (Artistic Director, Oskar Eustis; Executive Director, Patrick Willingham) announced today that a special free one-night event, PUBLIC FORUM: SHAKESPEARE IN AMERICA, will take place on Monday, June 30 at 8:00 p.m. at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park, with a line-up that includes Sarah Amengual, Michael Cerveris, Colman Domingo, James Earl Jones, Cynthia Nixon, Annie-B Parson, Steven Pasquale, and Michael Stuhlbarg, celebrating the world's greatest writer, American-style. Highlights of the evening will include James Earl Jones reading a scene from Othello, marking his return to the Delacorte after a 40-year absence and celebrating the 50th anniversary of his playing Othello on the Delacorte stage; Michael Cerveris reading a letter by John Wilkes Booth; and Steven Pasquale singing Tony in the "Tonight" duet from West Side Story.

The Board of Trustees of The Public Theater just announced that Arielle Tepper Madover has been elected as The Public's new Board Chair. Madover, who joined the board in 2009, has been an active member of the Executive Committee, serving as Board Vice-Chair for the last year and Chair of The Public's Commercial Projects Committee since 2011. She was Co-Chair of The Public's 2013 Gala and the 50thAnniversary Gala in 2012, achieving the highest grossing galas in Public Theater history. A Tony Award-winning producer, Madover will serve a three year term effective immediately.

The Public Theater announced that Tony Award winner Cynthia Nixon has joined the December Public Forum Drama Club event, The Long Christmas Dinner by Thornton Wilder, on Tuesday, December 10 at 7:00 p.m. at Joe's Pub. In Public Forum Drama Club, authors, musicians, journalists, scholars, and actors come together to give onstage readings of one-act plays that have some special resonance in our lives today. Each reading concludes with a discussion of the hard questions that the play raises about our politics, our culture, and the way we live now.

Speaking at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts annual benefit gala last night at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Los Angeles, Academy Award-winning director, producer and screenwriter Oliver Stone recalled his days at the iconic arts school, which he attended in the years after his return from Vietnam. "I entered back into civilization at Tisch," he said. "New York was the right place at the right time. It's been my orphan home." Mr. Stone was honored last night by NYU's Tisch School of the Arts for Outstanding Achievement in the Cinematic Arts. Tony and Grammy-award winning actor Steve Kazee (Once) and Grey's Anatomy's Chandra Wilson co-hosted the benefit gala, where over $1 million was raised for the school. The evening's entertainment included a stirring rendition of the Oscar-winning "Falling Slowly" by Kazee, as well as a series of musical performances by current Tisch students.
