Northlight Theatre Announces Casting for 4000 MILES, DETROIT '67, TOM JONES and CHAPATTI

Northlight Theatre Artistic Director BJ Jones and Executive Director Timothy J. Evans announce casting for the first three selections of the 2013-14 season. Northlight will open its season with the 2013 Pulitzer Prize finalist 4000 Miles by Amy Herzog, featuring Emjoy Gavino, Caroline Neff, Josh Salt and Mary Ann Thebus. The Midwest Premiere of Detroit '67 will feature Tyla Abercrumbie,Cassandra Bissell, Kamal Angelo Bolden, Coco Elysses and Kelvin Roston, Jr. Jon Jory's new adaptation of Henry Fielding's classic novel Tom Jones will include Chris Amos, Sam Ashdown, Nora Fiffer, Molly Glynn, Melanie Keller, John Lister, Cristina Panfilio, Eric Parks and Marcus Truschinski. John Mahoney and Penny Slusher will appear in the World Premiere of Chapatti.

American Blues Theater, Chicago's second oldest Equity ensemble, proudly closes the Ensemble's 27th season with the Broadway version of the script Collected Stories by Pulitzer Prize winner Donald Margulies, co-directed by the mother and daughter team of Mary Ann Thebus and Steppenwolf Theater Associate Artist Jessica Thebus, runs April 19 - May 19 at Victory Gardens' Richard Christiansen Theater, 2433 N. Lincoln Avenue. Previews are Friday, April 19 and Saturday, April 20 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, April 22 at 2:30 p.m. The press opening for Collected Stories is Thursday, April 25 at 7 p.m. Tickets range from $10 - $49. Tickets go on sale Friday, March 19 at 12 p.m. Performances run Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2:30 p.m. There are two Saturday matinees at 5 p.m., May 11 and 18. Producing Artistic Director Gwendolyn Whiteside of American Blues Theater (ABT), Chicago's second oldest Equity ensemble, today announced the Ensemble's 27th season. The season kicks off with the world premiere of Illegal Use of Hands by Emmy Award-winner, two-time Pulitzer Prize finalist and ABT Artistic Affiliate James Still, directed by Sandy Shinner, August 31 - September 30 and followed by the critically acclaimed It's a Wonderful Life: Live on State Street! , now at the Museum of Broadcast Communications, directed by ABT Artistic Affiliate Marty Higginbotham, November 16 - December 30. ABT's final 2012 -2013 production is Pulitzer Prize playwright Donald Margulies' 2010 Broadway script Collected Stories, co-directed by Steppenwolf Artistic Affiliate Jessica Thebus and Mary Ann Thebus.

Route 66 will feature members of the cast of ELIZABETH REX, the critically acclaimed hit show now playing at Chicago Shakespeare Theater. Directed by Associate Artistic Director Erica Weiss, who served as Assistant Director on ELIZABETH REX, Brenda Barrie, Matt Farabee, and Mary Ann Thebus will take the 'stage' at Mrs Murphy's and Sons Irish Bistro for a reading of a new play by Adam Simon.

Jefferson Award Nominees Announced

Today, the Jefferson Awards announced the 150 nominations in 35 categories for Chicago Equity theatrical productions which opened between August 1, 2007 and July 31, 2008. Beginning with this season, the Jeff Awards is acknowledging the work of Large and Midsize theatres in separate categories for productions and technical elements.
