BWW Review: Slight GOLDEN LEAF RAG TIME BLUES at Ensemble

Director Ian Wolfgang Hinz's program notes state, 'GOLDEN LEAF RAG TIME BLUES is an exploration of prejudice and humanism.' He continues, 'Their prejudice blinds them to the humanity in each other and the potential shared love of music, comedy and the need to have someone listen.' He further states, 'GLTRF asks us to confront our human capacity for seeing the 'content of character' present in all of us.'

Theater Close-Up and REPAIRING A NATION 2/18 at 9 p.m. on THIRTEEN

Theater Close-Up -- the unique collaboration between THIRTEEN and the large community of New York City area non-profit Off-Broadway theaters -- will present its first regional production, Nikkole Salter's Repairing a Nation, from Crossroads Theatre Company in New Brunswick, New Jersey, captured live on-stage, in THIRTEEN's signature 'up-close' style.

Joan Baez to Celebrate 75th Birthday at Beacon Theatre; New Tour Confirmed

Joan Baez will celebrate her 75th birthday on Saturday, January 27 at the Beacon Theatre. The special event will honor her legendary 50 plus years in music in an intimate career spanning live performance. Baez will perform alongside fellow artists and friends, including: Jackson Browne, Indigo Girls,Emmylou Harris, Judy Collins, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Damien Rice, Nano Stern and David Bromberg. Additional acts will be announced shortly. The concert is being recorded and produced for television by Thirteen Productions LLC for WNET New York as part of the Great Performances series on PBS.
