The Film Society of Lincoln Center has announced that Academy Award-winner Barbra Streisand, the first American woman artist to receive credit as writer, director, producer and star of a major feature film, YENTL, will be honored at the 40th Annual Chaplin Award Gala held at Lincoln Center on the evening of Monday, April 22, 2013.

The Film Society of Lincoln Center will kick off a daily radio program tomorrow from the 2013 Sundance Film Festival called Film Society's Daily Buzz with Eugene Hernandez. Philip Glass' The Fall of the House of Usher, a gothic horror story which blurs the line between the real world and the supernatural, opens Chicago Opera Theater's 2013 Season, titled "Power of Love, Love of Power." This is Andreas Mitisek's inaugural season as General Director of Chicago Opera Theater since assuming the position in June 2012. Glass' haunting 1987 score for Edgar Allan Poe's macabre masterpiece, with lyrics by Arthur Yorinks, provides the perfect backdrop for this nightmarish journey to the edge of madness. The Fall of the House of Usher, taking place at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance, 205 E. Randolph Drive, runs for four performances only: Saturday, February 23 at 7:30 p.m., Sunday, February 24 at 3 p.m., Wednesday, February 27 at 7:30 p.m. and Friday, March 1 at 7:30 p.m. Single tickets go on sale Monday, January 21.

According to Deadline.com, Jerry Lewis will play his first starring film role since 1995 in director Daniel Noah's Max Rose. The film will be shot in Los Angeles.

Yahoo.com reports that NBC has ordered a new legal drama pilot which will be based on Jo Nesbo's novel I AM VICTOR. According to the report, the series will tell the story of 'a high-powered divorce attorney with a unique view of relationships.'

The Rubin Museum will explore illusion and human perception in this year's edition of the popular Brainwave series of on-stage conversations between mind scientists and thinkers from diverse walks of life. Opening on February 6, the series will include 20 on-stage conversations, 50 film screenings, and an interactive experience in which the museum will become a Memory Palace. While illusion is usually associated with vision, the series will engage audiences through all five senses to provide a comprehensive understanding of the subject.

The event will take place at the Walter Reade Theater (165 West 65th Street) on Wednesday, February 6 at 6:30PM and will include the screenings as well as a live musical performance by MC5's Wayne Kramer, a subject of one of the films.
