Rivertown Theaters for the Performing Arts in Kenner's Rivertown will present the popular holiday favorite, 'Annie', directed by co-artistic director Kelly Fouchi from December 6 - 22, 2013.
Annie opens November 29 and due to popular demand, performances have just been added and the final performance will be December 22. Annie performs as part of the Memorial Children's Hospital Family Series in the Wilson Mainstage Auditorium. Tickets are $21 Fri, Sat (8 PM), $21 Sun (3 PM) $18 Wed & Thu (7:30 PM). Leapin' Lizards! The Downtown Cabaret Children's Theatre production of Annie, Jr., an abbreviated version of Broadway's current production of Annie, takes audiences into the upcoming holiday season with its cabaret-style theatrical production especially for children of all ages and their families. Featured in the cast are Alanna Murphy as Annie and T. Sean Maher as Daddy Warbucks.
On November 3 & 17, Martin Charnin's Something Funny's Going On: A Cabarevue will play 54 Below. The dazzling new musical revue utilizes the writing talents of Charnin, Ronny Graham, Marvin Hamlisch, Douglas Bernstein, Dennis Markell, Abbott and Weeks, Weeden, Finkle and Fay, Kaufman and Krane and many others. Transport Group, the Drama Desk and OBIE award-winning theatre company, has announced that Almost, Maine, written by John Cariani and directed by Jack Cummings III, and I Remember Mama, written by John Van Druten and directed by Mr. Cummings, will comprise the company's 2013-14 season. Both productions will take place at the Gym at Judson, 243 Thompson Street, where Transport Group will now be in residency.

The Kennedy Center, under the auspices of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP), presents a free, five-night ASCAP Centennial Celebration on the Millennium Stage November 16-18 and 20-21, 2013. This live showcase of musical theater works from the past 100 years features songs by some of the theater world's most talented composers and lyricists and concerts from a lineup of acclaimed musical theater performers. The celebration is part of the Center's daily, free Millennium Stage performance series streamed live on the Kennedy Center website and archived for future viewings. It is the first in a series of events across the country that will celebrate ASCAP's upcoming 100th birthday, on February 13, 2014.
TONY and EMMY Award nominee Ron Raines returns to Broadway as Daddy Warbucks in the new Broadway production of ANNIE at the Palace Theatre (1564 Broadway between 46th and 47th Streets). He will begin performances on Tuesday, December 10. Australian superstar Anthony Warlow will play his final performance as Daddy Warbucks on Sunday, December 8.

October is Adopt-a-Dog month, and ANNIE on Broadway is celebrating by showing support for those who adopt shelter dogs. From October 15 through 31, at participating shelters around the city, individuals who adopt a dog from a participating shelter will receive a voucher for two tickets to see ANNIE in November, while supplies last. ANNIE has partnered with a select number of shelters and rescue groups in NYC, all of which are members of the Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals, to participate. Participating shelters include The Humane Society of NY, New York Animal Care & Control, Animal Haven, Sean Casey Animal Rescue and Louie's Legacy. More shelters will be announced via social media.

The new Billie Holiday musical Lady Day starring Tony and multiple Grammy Award-winner Dee Dee Bridgewater, opened last night, October 3 at the Little Shubert Theatre (422 West 42nd Street, between 9th and 10th Avenues). Written and directed by Stephen Stahl, the musical makes its New York debut having been produced at the Theatre de Boulogne-Billancourt and Theatre du Gymnase Marie Bell in Paris as well as The Donmar Warehouse and The Piccadilly Theatre in London, where it received critical praise and garnered an Olivier 'Best Actress in a Musical' Award nomination for Ms. Bridgewater. Deadline reports that Dorian Missick (Southland) has joined the ANNIE remake alongside Tracie Thoms as Annie's 'fake parents'. The new film inspired by the classic Broadway musical with a modern spin also stars Quvenzhane Wallis in the title role with Jamie Foxx, Cameron Diaz, Rose Byrne, Bobby Cannavale, as well as the recently announced David Zayas. The film is currenly filming on-location in New York City.
