Society of London Theater Members to Vote for 2013 Olivier Award Winners

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, changes have been underway for the judging system at the Olivier Awards. This year's winners will reportedly be voted on by members of the Society of London Theater (an organization comprising some 170 theater owners, producers and general managers) instead of the small voting panel of the past.

THE BOOK OF MORMON Sets Record for Biggest Single Day of Sales in West End and Broadway History

The producers of The Book of Mormon, which opened Thursday night at London's Prince of Wales Theatre, announced that the show set a record for the biggest single day of sales in West End and Broadway history. Between 10:00 AM and Midnight on Friday, March 22, the day after opening, £2,107,972 ($3,210,019) was taken in ticket sales. 150,000 additional tickets have been made available and the show is now booking until January 11, 2014.

Thirteen gifted students from drama schools across the UK have been awarded with £55,500 worth of bursaries by the Society of London Theatre (SOLT) in order to help them complete their training. Previous bursary winners include Patterson Joseph, Daniel Rigby, Vinette Robinson, Bryony Hannah and Michael Sheen.

The Society of London Theatre's 2011 Box Office figures, published today (31 January 2012), show that for the eighth year running, its members' Box Office revenues achieved new record sales of £528,375,874, up 3.1% on a like-for-like basis on 2010 and topping £500 million for the third time ever.
