The smash hit musical The Lion King has been showing audiences the circle of life for a remarkable twenty-one years on Broadway, and now the show is giving Business Insider a look backstage at the productions' intricate puppets and set design. Head to the Pridelands with the full video!

In partnership with Disney Theatrical Group, Music Theatre International plans to release an expanded library of new licensed titles. Frozen KIDS (September 2019), Moana JR. (January 2020), Newsies JR. (September 2020), and Finding Nemo JR. (January 2021), based on Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pixar films, will soon be available for licensing in the United States.

Tickets are on sale today for 'The Lion King,' the Jon Favreau-helmed feature film that brings treasured characters to the big screen in a whole new way. The film-like the original 1994 version-features unforgettable music by an award-winning team, including Oscar® and GRAMMY®-winning superstar Elton John and Oscar and GRAMMY-winning lyricist Tim Rice, who've written an uplifting new song, 'Never Too Late,' performed by John, that features an African choir and will appear in the film's end credits and also on the Walt Disney Records original motion picture soundtrack. The digital soundtrack is set for release at 8 a.m. PDT on July 11, and the physical album is now available for pre-order and set for release on July 19, the same day 'The Lion King' opens in U.S. theaters.

While in Toronto for Toy Story 4's Canadian premiere, Tony Hale took in a performance of Disney's The Lion King at the Princess of Wales Theatre in Toronto on June 14 and met Gerald Ramsey (Mufasa), Nia Holloway (Nala) and Jared Dixon (Simba).

Performances for the return engagement of Disney's THE LION KING begin tonight at Toronto's Princess of Wales Theatre. The 8-week engagement will play from Thursday June 13 through Sunday August 4, 2019.

The Walt Disney Company UK and Ireland has today announced the principal company for the UK and Ireland tour of the landmark musical THE LION KING which will open in Bristol in September 2019 before moving on to Edinburgh in December 2019. Further cities will be announced in due course.

Disney's THE LION KING is celebrating a sold-out engagement, which concluded on Sunday, May 5 at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts. Playhouse Square will present a special performance of Disney's THE LION KING for individuals with sensory sensitivities, autism spectrum disorders and other sensory, social and cognitive challenges or issues and their families on Saturday, August 31 at 1:30 p.m. This marks the first-ever sensory-friendly performance of a touring Broadway show in Cleveland. Playhouse Square has previously presented sensory-friendly performances as part of the Children's Theater Series presented by University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children's.
