Writers in Performance is a 12-week writing and performance workshop hosted by BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center, culminating in two public presentations.  Throughout the course of the workshop, talented actors, playwrights, poets and storytellers have explored writing exercises, theater games, improvisation, movement techniques, and ensemble work in a safe, creative environment. This season, the theme and title of the Writers in Performance show is 'Home.' Writers in Performance participants are diverse by design; not only in ethnicity, but by age, and experience as well, mixing professionals with students.  On Friday, December 2 & Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 7:30PM, the troupe will showcase the monologues and short scenes they have been crafting.  We are proud to have members of the BMCC student community in the production (denoted below). A Change of Harp in collaboration with Bowerbird is proud to present a concert of Mario Davidovsky's Synchronisms, 10 pieces for live instrumental and electronic sound. These performances will take place on December 8th and 9th at 7:00. The venue, Holy Apostles & the Mediator Episcopal Church (260 S 51st St, Philadelphia), is one of the largest episcopal churches in the United States. Through this performance, we will be exploring many of its eclectic spaces with the intention of aurally observing how space can affect sound and the way we experience a piece. Davidovsky himself described these pieces as a study in "Space-farbenmelodien" or "Space coloring melody", intending for these pieces to affect the way we view the areas that we occupy.

Abingdon Theatre Company launches its new Musical Theatre Lab with two readings of PARIS THROUGH THE WINDOW, a new musical with music by Leo Hurley and book & lyrics by Charles Osborne, tonight and tomorrow, November 10 and 11, in Abingdon Theatre Company's June Havoc Theatre.

Back by popular demand with new original songs, Brava! for Women in the Arts and 3 Lopez Productions present El Son de la Mision, a musical suite composed by multi-instrumentalist, composer, arranger and educator John Calloway and a script from renowned actor, playwright, theatre director and educator, Carlos Baron. Drawing on fifty years of changing musical styles, El Son de la Misionexamines the history of the Mission District through music. The work presents new songs that illuminate, evoke, and reflect pivotal social and artistic movements in the neighborhood's recent history, starting in the 1960s to the present. Professional artists, CMC students, partners, and Mission District public school students participated in the development and are part of the final performances.
