Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra Season Opens This November
by A.A. Cristi - Oct 2, 2018

Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra's opening concerts will introduce our new Music Director and Conductor Mario Alejandro Torres and showcase a program that is set to comfort, welcome, and delight our beloved audience. The concert opens with the soothing and warmhearted Gayane's Adagio by Aram Khachaturian, from his ballet “Gayane.” Nathan Chang then joins the stage to perform Elgar's mesmerizing Cello Concerto in E minor, one of the most important pieces in the cello literature. The BSO will conclude the concert with Brahms' most endearing symphony, Symphony No. 2 in D Major. After almost twenty years of perfecting and working on his first symphony, the second bloomed effortlessly from the master's mind. On the surface, this work is light in character; digging deeper, we find that Brahms' second symphony embraces an expansive and nuanced array of emotions.

The Cascadian Institute of Cultural Design Presents MONSTERKILL 5: REMONSTERKILLED
by A.A. Cristi - Sep 25, 2018

The Cascadian Institute of Cultural Design presents the world premiere of Monsterkill 5: Remonsterkilled (Or, We Were the Empty Set), a play about life and death and life and death in a whack-em-up videogame.  Set in a world called Scapescape, Monsterkill 5 follows five virtual avatars as they struggle to overcome both their compulsion to constantly bludgeon each other and the machinations of the game designer who eggs them on.  The play is an uncomfortably funny, slapstick treatise on the movement of violence from outer life to inner life and vice-versa.  Most of all, it's an absurdist takeoff of the traditional videogame format that sees characters die over and over again only to be reincarnated once more with the singular drive to wreak havoc.
