Chicago DUO PIANO FEST Celebrates 30 Years This Fall

The Music Institute of Chicago announces the 30th anniversary season of its annual Chicago Duo Piano Festival (CDPF) beginning this fall with a concert program Friday, October 27 at Nichols Concert Hall, 1490 Chicago Avenue, Evanston and continuing with a year of performances and a youth duo piano competition.

Cellist Amit Peled to Release Peabody Cello Gang Album 10/27

On Friday, October 27, 2017, CTM Classics releases The Amit Peled Peabody Cello Gang, an album of cello ensemble works produced by acclaimed Israeli cellist and sought-after pedagogue, Amit Peled, a professor at Baltimore's Peabody Institute. The recording features a world premiere arrangement of Schubert's Arpeggione Sonata in A Minor, D. 821 for four cellos by Tom Zebovitz; Popper's Requiem, Op.66; and Handel's Sonata for Two Cellos in G Minor, Op.2 No.8. Peled performs on the 1733 Pablo Casals Goffriller cello.

2017-2018 Season Highlights Announced for Boosey & Hawkes Composers

This season ushers in a host of premieres by Boosey & Hawkes composers, including John Adams's new opera Girls of the Golden West in San Francisco, Sebastian Currier's RE-FORMATION in Minneapolis, Christopher Rouse's Berceuse Infinie in Baltimore, and a new orchestral work by Sean Shepherd in Boston.

Yo-Yo Ma Joins Philadelphia Orchestra for a PlayIN at Saratoga Performing Arts Center

Cellists of all ages and abilities are invited to participate in a rare musical event that will allow them to play alongside cellist Yo-Yo Ma as well as cellists from The Philadelphia Orchestra for a one-hour PlayIN event, taking place on August 9th at 1:30 p.m. at Saratoga Performing Arts Center's amphitheatre stage.   

New York Philharmonic To Return To BRAVO! Vail, 7/21-28

The New York Philharmonic will return to Bravo! Vail in Colorado, celebrating its 30th season, for the Orchestra's 15th annual summer residency, July 21-28, 2017. The residency will include six orchestral concerts that honor the Philharmonic's legacy on the occasion of its 175th anniversary season and the conclusion of Alan Gilbert's tenure as Music Director.

NYO-USA to Make Inaugural Tour to Latin America This Summer

This summer, the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America, featuring 115 outstanding young musicians from across the country, comes together for its fifth year of extraordinary music making, culminating in the orchestra's first-ever tour of Latin America. NYO-USA's 2017 Latin America tour takes place from July 26 through August 4 with orchestra performances in Guadalajara, Mexico; Quito, Ecuador; and Bogota, Colombia, including side-by-side musical collaborations with fellow young musicians in all three tour countries.

Marin Alsop Leads NYO-USA and Music Educators in a Free Pop-Up Concert in Times Square

This Saturday, July 22 at 1:00 p.m., conductor Marin Alsop will lead an orchestra and chorus of more than 165 people, including members of the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America (NYO-USA) and music teachers from around the country, in a free pop-up performance in Times Square as part of Carnegie Hall's Summer Music Educators Workshop. The program will include John Adams's Short Ride in a Fast Machine and Bernstein's "Somewhere" from West Side Story (with an orchestra and a chorus made up of music educators). Ronnie Oliver, Jr. will also lead the choir of music educators in David Lang's make peace and Ernani Aguiar's Salmo 150, and Nicole Mitchell will lead a creative ensemble in improvised works.

NYO-USA Performs at Carnegie Hall This Friday, 7/21 Prior to Latin American Tour

Carnegie Hall's acclaimed National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America (NYO-USA) -featuring some of the finest teen musicians from across the country, ages 16-19, representing 33 U.S. states-will perform its fifth annual concert at Carnegie Hall, led by acclaimed conductor Marin Alsop, on Friday, July 21 at 8:00 p.m. 

LEIMAY Unveil World Premiere of FRANTIC BEAUTY at BAM

The multidisciplinary duo Ximena Garnica and Shige Moriya and the LEIMAY Ensemble return to BAM Fisher with FRANTIC BEAUTY, the newest evening-length work representing the mid-point in their BECOMING pentalogy. Combining the LEIMAY Ensemble's signature physicality layered over vivid visual landscapes, this world premiere reflects on society's pursuit of and relationship to beauty.
