BWW Review: Humanity's Heartbreak Revealed at OTW's Tragic WOMEN OF TROY

In a play more than 2000 years old written by Euripides titled The Trojan Women, Dale Gutzman's Off the Wall Theater (OTW) reimagines their Women of Troy set in the 1920's. Gutzman worked several years to adapt the play inspired by a Don Taylor translation revealing the aftermath of the infamous Trojan War through a women's eyes, the prisoners and refugees shipped to another city. These were the women who survived when their brothers, fathers, husbands and sons were slaughtered by the Athenians, after the legendary Trojan horse 'birthed blood' that flowed into Troy's streets.

New York Philharmonic To Return To BRAVO! Vail, 7/21-28

The New York Philharmonic will return to Bravo! Vail in Colorado, celebrating its 30th season, for the Orchestra's 15th annual summer residency, July 21-28, 2017. The residency will include six orchestral concerts that honor the Philharmonic's legacy on the occasion of its 175th anniversary season and the conclusion of Alan Gilbert's tenure as Music Director.

Bay Area Cabaret Announces March Shows

Bay Area Cabaret continues its acclaimed series at the Venetian Room at Fairmont San Francisco (950 Mason Street atop Nob Hill) with two special shows in March-one a tribute to cabaret as a distinctive art form, and the other a return engagement for two of the most popular Bay Area Cabaret artists. On March 5 at 5:00 pm, A Cabaret Spectacular will celebrate the art of cabaret performance featuring some of the finest cabaret performers from across the nation. Then on March 26 at 7:30 pm, world-renowned guitarist and singer John Pizzarelli and Broadway soprano Jessica Molaskey, return to the Bay Area Cabaret stage with their brand new hit show from Cafe Carlyle in New York. Riverside Theatre presents Lucas Hnath's THE CHRISTIANS

Riverside Theatre, led by Producing Artistic Director/CEO Allen D. Cornell and Managing Director/COO Jon R. Moses, present the contemporary play by Lucas Hnath, The Christians. Sponsored by Riverside Theatre's Patron Producers Group, The Christians performs on the Waxlax Stage from March 21 - April 9, 2017.

UNCLE VANYA Opens Tonight for Now-Extended Run at the Goodman

Goodman Theatre Artistic Director Robert Falls marks his 30th anniversary season with the Chicago premiere of Pulitzer Prize winner Annie Baker's (The Flick) adaptation of Uncle Vanya. Uncle Vanya opens tonight and appears for a now-extended run through March 19 in the Owen Theatre.

CCRI Players Present Swing Era ROMEO AND JULIET

One of William Shakespeare's most enduring and iconic plays returns to the local stage as the Community College of Rhode Island Players perform Romeo and Juliet. This play which has become the quintessential story of young love will be presented at the Bobby Hackett Theatre, Knight Campus in Warwick on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, March 2, 3, and 4, at 7:30 P.M., and on Saturday and Sunday, March 4 and 5, at 2 P.M.

Ashanti J'Aria joins THE MEETING at Joe's Pub

The Meeting* hosted by Justin Sayre - the monthly gathering of the International Order of Sodomites, the centuries-old organization which sets the mythic Gay Agenda - will continue its final season on Sunday, February 19 with a celebration of the iconic director and choreographer Michael Bennett at 9:30 PM at JOE'S PUB at The Public Theater. The Meeting*, the acclaimed comedy/variety show known for its audacious humor, trailblazing political discourse and button-pushing cultural exploration, will come to an end at the conclusion of the season in May 2017. Special guests for the February show include Ashanti J'Aria, who joins previously-announced Carolee Carmello, T. Oliver Reid, Rob Maitner, Jacob Hoffman, Lori Ann Ferreri, Rosie Lani Fiedelmanand Tera-Lee Pollin. Tracy Stark serves as the evening's music director.

Winners of the 2017 George London Awards Are Announced

The winners of the 46th annual George London Foundation Awards Competition for young American and Canadian opera singers were announced at the conclusion of the competition's final round this evening, which took place in a front of an audience at Gilder Lehrman Hall at The Morgan Library & Museum in New York City.
