Extravagant Inventions: The Princely Furniture of the Roentgens, on view at The Metropolitan Museum of Art October 30, 2012, through January 27, 2013, will be the first comprehensive survey of the Roentgen family's cabinetmaking firm from 1742 to its closing in the early 1800s. Some 60 pieces of furniture, many of which have never before been lent outside Europe, and several clocks will be complemented by paintings, including portraits of the Roentgen family, and prints that depict the masterpieces of furniture in contemporary interiors.

The two main characters, both so rich they have no concept of the value of money, feel they are above the law and free to play by their own rules. As part of Performance Network's mission to promote new plays and the works of local playwrights, the theatre will premiere Joseph Zettelmaier's "Dead Man's Shoes," a darkly comedic Western tale of friendship and vengeance. This co-production, which is currently running at the Williamston Theatre in mid-Michigan, comes to Ann Arbor through April 8, 2012. It is directed by Performance Network Artistic Director, David Wolber and features Aral Gribble ("Man of La Mancha," "The Home Team"), Paul Hopper ("Jacob Marley's Christmas Carol"), Maggie Meyer and Drew Parker ("Marie Antoinette: The Color of Flesh").
