Dallas Opera Opens 2012-13 Season With AIDA

The Dallas Opera is will present the initial production of the 2012-2013 "Pursuits of Passion" Season: Giuseppe Verdi's passionate and moving 19th century masterpiece, AÏDA, one of the most powerful and popular works in the entire opera canon. AÏDA opens on Friday, October 26, 2012 in the Margot and Bill Winspear Opera House at the AT&T Performing Arts Center in the Dallas Arts District. The occasion also marks the Dallas Opera's 2012-2013 Season Celebration of the 200th Anniversary of the composer's birth.

Signature Theatre (James Houghton, Founding Artistic Director; Erika Mallin, Executive Director) has announced that tickets are now on sale and full casting is set for GOLDEN CHILD by David Henry Hwang and directed by Leigh Silverman. All tickets for the initial run of the production are $25 as part of the Signature Ticket Initiative: A Generation of Access. The production runs October 23 through December 2, 2012, with a November 13 opening night in The Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues).

Margot Harley, co-founder and Producer of The Acting Company has announced the appointment of Ian Belknap to the position of Artistic Director. "We're a Company of young actors - founded forty years ago with the young Kevin Kline, Patti LuPone, David Schramm and David Ogden Stiers right out of Juilliard - and it is appropriate that we begin our next 40 years with a vibrant young talent as our artistic leader," said Ms. Harley, who moves from Producing Artistic Director to Producer. Franklin School for the Performing Arts Announces New Dance Faculty Members

The Franklin School for the Performing Arts (FSPA) welcomes two new faculty members to the Dance Department for the 2012-2013 school year. Beginning this September, Cathy Hazeltine Fallon, Instructor of Children's Dance and Ballet, and Jennifer Markham, Instructor of Ballet, will teach in Franklin and at the school's new satellite location in downtown Hudson. FSPA's Dance Department offers programs for all ages and levels in ballet, jazz, modern, tap, hip hop and lyrical, including classes specifically for boys, adults and beginner teens.
