Magnificat Performs in Palo Alto, Berkeley and San Francisco This Weekend

The San Francisco Early Music Society will present MAGNIFICAT together with early wind ensemble THE WHOLE NOYSE in a program of music featuring the brilliant polychoral music of Giovanni Gabrieli juxtaposed with the concertato music of Claudio Monteverdi. A Venetian Christmas Mass presents the works in liturgical sequence for the third mass on Christmas Day interspersed with Gregorian chant appropriate for the feast day.

SANTANA Joined by Musical Superstars at Arena VFG in Mexico

Fresh off of receiving his Kennedy Center Honors Award last week, Carlos Santana took the stage with his band SANTANA this past Saturday, December 14th for a once-in-a-lifetime concert event performing to a sold out house at Arena VFG in Guadalajara, Mexico.SANTANA was joined by some of Latin music's biggest and brightest stars including ChocQuibTown, Lila Downs, Gloria Estefan, Juanes, Miguel, Fher Olvera of Mana, Nina Pastori, Samuel Rosa of Skank, Romeo Santos, Soledad and Diego Torres, performing songs from his forthcoming studio album CORAZON, to be released in spring 2014. The live concert will be released on DVD next year and will premiere on HBO Latino and HBO Latin America in spring 2014.

Opera Philadelphia to Present AINADAMAR, 2/7-16

Opera Philadelphia continues its 39th Season in February with the only U.S. appearance of a vivid new Spanish production of Ainadamar, the Grammy Award-winning first opera from Argentinian composer Osvaldo Golijov. On the heels of a three-year, three-city tour of Spain conducted by Corrado Rovaris, Opera Philadelphia's Jack Mulroney Music Director, the production will be presented in five performances at the Academy of Music, February 7-16, 2014.

'The Mambo Kings Play Songs of Love' Released As eBook

RosettaBooks has released three Oscar Hijuelos works as eBooks, including The Mambo Kings Play Songs of Love, for which he was the first Latino to win a Pulitzer Prize in 1990, Our House in the Last World, and The Fourteen Sisters of Emilio Montez O'Brien. Oscar Hijuelos recently died at age 62, a huge loss to American literature.

Collegiate Chorale Presents MEFISTOFELE at Carnegie Hall Tonight

The Collegiate Chorale presents its first concert of the season, Mefistofele, by Arrigo Boito tonight, November 6, 2013 at 8pm at Carnegie Hall, 881 7th Avenue, NYC. The Collegiate Chorale will hold its Annual Fall Gala immediately following the concert.
