Cutting Ball Theatre Presents ...AND JESUS MOONWALKS THE MISSISSIPPI

Set on the banks of the Mississippi during the final days of the Civil War ...AND JESUS MOONWALKS THE MISSISSIPPI is a poetic journey of forgiveness and redemption. Marcus Gardley's play runs from March 12 to April 11 at the Cutting Ball Theatre.

Broadway Bound Rupert Holmes Adaption of Grisham's A TIME TO KILL to Premiere at Arena Stage

Last Month, Arena Stage announced six productions and two major festivals that will inaugurate the company's new venue the Mead Center for American Theater next year. In addition to those exciting projects, Artistic Director Molly Smith is pleased to complete the 2010/11, 60th anniversary season lineup with the inclusion of the pre-Broadway world premiere of A Time to Kill-an adaptation by Rupert Holmes of the acclaimed John Grisham novel presented by special arrangement with Daryl Roth-and Let Me Down Easy, conceived, written and performed by Anna Deavere Smith. Both productions will be staged in the Mead Center's restored and remarkably intimate Kreeger Theater.

DEAR HARVEY to be Presented at The Kennedy Center, 4/16

Patricia Loughrey's play 'Dear Harvey' will be presented in a concert reading with professional actors at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. during the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF) this April. KCACTF is a national theater program involving 18,000 students from colleges and universities nationwide which has served as a catalyst in improving the quality of college theater in the United States.

Hinkle, Hurwitz, Kerwin et al. Set for LCT3's GRACELAND

Marin Hinkle, David Gelles Hurwitz, Brian Kerwin, Polly Lee and Matt McGrath will be featured in LCT3's upcoming production of GRACELAND, a new play by Ellen Fairey, directed by Henry Wishcamper. This New York premiere will begin performances, Monday, May 3, open on Monday, May 17 at 6:45pm and run through Saturday, May 29 at The Duke on 42nd Street, a New 42nd Street® project (229 West 42 Street).

David Hare Announces The Winner of 2010 Yale Drama Series Award

English playwright David Hare has selected blu by Virginia Grise as the 2010 winner of the annual Yale Drama Series competition. The runners-up are Siona MacDuff by Mary Hamilton and Nineteen Kinds of Peril by Tom Lavignino.

Fordham United Methodist Church Presents Harriett D. Foy 2/21

In celebration of Black History Month, the Fordham United Methodist Church presents actress Harriett D. Foy's 'My Soul Looks Back In Wonder: A Journey Through The Memories of a People in Word and Song,' based on first-hand experiences of slaves on Sunday, February 21, 2010 at Fordham United Methodist Church in the Bronx.

Lincoln Center to Produce WOMEN ON THE VERGE OF A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN, WAR HORSE & A FREE MAN OF COLOR

Lincoln Center Theater (under the direction of Andre Bishop, Artistic Director, and Bernard Gersten, Executive Producer) announced three productions that it will produce during the 2010-2011 season at the Vivian Beaumont Theater and on Broadway. The first, a musical version of the Pedro Almodóvar film WOMEN ON THE VERGE OF A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN, with book by Jeffrey Lane, music and lyrics by David Yazbek and direction by Bartlett Sher, will begin previews Saturday, October 2 when it will reopen the newly restored Belasco Theatre (111 W. 44 Street). Opening night is Thursday, November 4.

Arena Stage Features Albee, RUINED et al. in 2010 - 2011

Arena Stage Artistic Director Molly Smith announces the D.C.-based pioneering theater company's 60th season filled with award-winning artists and projects to celebrate the grand opening of Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater. The 2010/11 inaugural season includes eight full productions, seven presentations from the National Endowment for the Arts New Play Development Program and public readings from all 30 of Edward Albee's works, totaling at least 45 projects produced and presented by Arena Stage in the inaugural year at the Mead Center. With the opening next fall, Arena Stage will fully become a national center for production, presentation, development and study of American theater.

Previews begin 2/11 for WHEN THE RAIN STOPS FALLING at LCT

Previews begin Thursday (February 11) for the American premiere of Andrew Bovell's WHEN THE RAIN STOPS FALLING, directed by David Cromer, at 8pm at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater (150 West 65 Street).

Lincoln Center Unveils Plans for New Theatre, Rehearsal Space Atop Vivian Beaumont

Lincoln Center Theater (under the direction of Andre Bishop, Artistic Director, and Bernard Gersten, Executive Producer) has announced plans to expand its operations to the roof of the Vivian Beaumont Theater. Construction will begin this spring on a 23,000 square foot, two-story addition which is designed by noted architect Hugh Hardy of H3 Hardy Collaboration Architecture. Budgeted at $41 million, it will house a 131-seat theater and dressing rooms, as well as much needed rehearsal and office space for the LCT staff and an outdoor terrace surrounded by a green roof. The theater will be named the Claire Tow Theater, in honor of the wife of longtime LCT Board Member Leonard Tow, recognizing the Tow Foundation's outstanding leadership support. It will become the home of LCT3, Lincoln Center Theater's programming initiative dedicated to producing the work of new artists and the development of new audiences. Completion of the project is anticipated in late 2011 - early 2012.
