The NY City Center Encores! Presents FANNY on its mainstage from February 4-7, 2010.

Original cast albums are wonderful things. They preserve the music, lyrics and orchestrations of shows for other generations and allow today's teens to enjoy the craftsmanship of Rodgers and Hart and Vincent Youman. They also allow someone who was only six years old when the original production of FANNY played on Broadway to fall in love with Harold Rome's remarkable score on black vinyl and later on CD. This is music that is filled with gems, but the special moment that most aficionados tend to recall is William Tabbert's soaring rendition of the title tune. His singing of the plaintive lyric, 'Here's a boy with no heart to give Fanny... Not worth the tears you'll cry, Fanny, oh Fanny, goodbye' is so stellar that it remains in peoples' minds more than half a century later. The production ran for almost 900 performances but most people who remember Tabbert's singing never saw the show. It's the cast album that echoes in their ears and resonates in their hearts.

Producers Tom Hulce and Ira Pittelman announced the complete Broadway cast of AMERICAN IDIOT today. The production will begin previews on Wednesday, March 24, 2010 and open on Broadway Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at the St. James Theatre (246 West 44 Street).

Tony Award-winning actress Priscilla Lopez has joined the cast of Fanny, the 50th Encores! musical produced by New York City Center since 1994 and the second Encores! production of the season. (Ms. Lopez replaces the previously announced Rondi Reed, who is no longer available due to illness.) Fanny, running February 4 - 7, has music and lyrics by Harold Rome and book by S.N. The nominees for the 5th Annual Kevin Kline Awards have been announced. The annual ceremony will be held on Monday, March 22 at 7pm at the Loretto-Hilton Theater.

Stage and screen veteran Victor Garber is currently in previews for his new show, the Roundabout Theatre Company's production of Noël Coward's 'Present Laughter 'playing at the American Airlines Theatre. Garber plays aging matinee idol 'Garry Essendine' who has his hands full in dealing with a rather high-maintenance group of friends.

This production marks the first musical presented in the Black Box Theatre.

You would think that Edith Wharton's fizzy little comic novel, The Glimpses Of The Moon, might have been a perfect property for Rodgers & Hart or Kern, Wodehouse & Bolton to musicalize when it was fresh off the presses in 1922.  But no, it took until 2008 for New Yorkers to get a glimpse, not to mention a pleasant earful, of a brand new frothy little musical charmer based on her book, courtesy of a couple of moderns, Tajlei Levis (book and lyrics) and John Mercurio (music).

It has been two days since The Roundabout Theatre Company premiered Ordinary Days at the Black Box Theatre in the Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre, and the positive notices have been pouring in.
