New York City Center Launches Latin Dance Festival 'A BAILAR' Today

New York City Center will present A Bailar: Dance at the Center, a three-week Latin dance festival featuring three acclaimed dance companies from Cuba, Argentina and Spain, running today, February 18 - March 7, 2015. The Festival kicks off with the U.S. debut of Havana Rakatan, a celebration of Cuban dance and music, and continues with Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui'sm¡longa, which captures the sultry world of Buenos Aires tango. Voces, Suite Flamenca, a new work from flamenco superstar Sara Baras, closes A Bailar. The Festival's many free pre-show events include dance lessons and discussion panels that will explore Latin culture through a variety of lenses.

Space On Ryder Farm Names Alex Barron Artistic Curator

SPACE on Ryder Farm announced today that Alex Barron will become its first Artistic Curator. An accomplished dramaturg, literary manager and producer, Barron will oversee all artistic programming at SPACE on Ryder Farm - including its residency program and resident writers group,The Working Farm - and will spearhead new artistic projects and programs. Barron will work closely with SPACE's Executive Director Emily Simoness to grow the company's mission while maintaining its commitment to enriching artists and their work.

TACT's ABUNDANCE Begins Tonight Off-Broadway

TACT/The Actors Company Theatre presents Abundance, the 1990 play by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Beth Henley (Crimes of the Heart). An epic tale of friendship set against the backdrop of the sweeping American West, Abundance will be directed by TACT Co-Artistic Director Jenn Thompson, who directed last season's production of William Inge's Natural Affection. Performances begin at Theatre Row's Beckett Theatre (410 West 42nd Street - between 9th & 10th Avenues) tonight, February 17, 2015.

Road Theatre Company's THE OTHER PLACE Begins Tonight

THE ROAD THEATRE COMPANY and Taylor Gilbert, Founder/Artistic Director together with Sam Anderson, Artistic Director, have announced the second show of its 2014-2015 season, the Los Angeles Premiere of THE OTHER PLACE, written by Sharr White and directed by Andre Barron and starring Sam Anderson, Taylor Gilbert, Dirk Etchison and Danielle Stephens. THE OTHER PLACE will preview tonight, February 14 at 8pm; Sunday, February 15 at 2pm & Wednesday, February 18 at 8pm and will open on Friday, February 20 at 8pm and run through Today, April 11th at the Road Theatre Company's second home, the Road on Magnolia, located in The NoHo Senior Arts Colony, 10747 Magnolia Blvd. in North Hollywood.

THE OLDEST BOY, BRIGHT STAR, POCATELLO, HAMILTON and More Among 2015 Edgerton Foundation New Play Award Winners

Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for theatre, is pleased to announce the recipients of the Edgerton Foundation New Play Awards for the 2014-15 season. The awards, totaling $858,000, allow 26 productions extra time in the development and rehearsal of new plays with the entire creative team, helping to extend the life of the play after its first run.

TCG Books Publishes Donald Margulies THE COUNTRY HOUSE

Theatre Communications Group (TCG) is pleased to announce the publication of Donald Margulies' The Country House. The play originally premiered at Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles with a subsequent Broadway premiere at Manhattan Theatre Club in New York in the fall of 2014.

THE OTHER PLACE Makes Chicago Premiere at Profiles Theatre Tonight

Profiles Theatre continues its 26th Season with the Chicago premiere of The Other Place by Sharr White, directed by Artistic Director Joe Jahraus. The production runs tonight, February 13 - April 5, 2015 at Profiles Theatre's The Main Stage, 4139 N. Broadway. The press opening is Thursday, February 19 at 8pm.

Merrimack Repertory Theatre to Open 2015-16 Season with Benjamin Scheuer's THE LION

Merrimack Repertory Theatre's (MRT) 2015-16 Season will open with "The Lion", a highly-acclaimed one-man musical written and performed by Benjamin Scheuer and directed by Sean Daniels, MRT's Incoming Artistic Director. The MRT production will run August 26 - September 20, 2015. "The Lion" is currently running in New York and receiving rave reviews.

Stage West to Present THE (CURIOUS CASE OF THE) WATSON INTELLIGENCE, Begin. 2/19

This is just one of the questions posed in Madeleine George's clever, time-jumping Pulitzer Prize finalist, The (curious case of the) Watson Intelligence, beginning a 5-week run on Thursday, February 19.

Mark Jacoby, Brit Whittle and More to Star in Milwaukee Rep's World Premiere of FIVE PRESIDENTS This Spring

Milwaukee Repertory Theater announced final casting for the upcoming World Premiere production of Five Presidents. Broadway and television veterans Mark Jacoby, Martin L'Herault, Steve Sheridan, Jeff Steitzer, and Brit Whittle, along with Rep Associate Artist Reese Madigan, make up the cast of Five Presidents from Emmy Award-winning writer Rick Cleveland (The West Wing, House of Cards, Mad Men, and Six Feet Under).

Company of Fools Presents PROOF, Now thru 2/28

This February Company of Fools (COF) will present the critically acclaimed and award-winning play, Proof, by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright David Auburn. As part of The Center's BIG IDEA project The Brain, COF will present 14 public performances and one student matinee. Performance will run from tonight, February 11 through February 28, 2015.

Good Theater to Present THE OTHER PLACE, 3/4-29

Playwright Terrence McNally excels at making wild and witty comedy out of very serious and thoughtful matters. In this 1991 off-Broadway triumph, two couples grapple with the mundane (burgers and kites) and the momentous (illness and infidelity) as they try (very hard) to celebrate the Fourth of July at a beach house. Lips Together, Teeth Apart includes a touch of Chekhov with the sly wickedness of McNally.

The Lion, the gripping, highly acclaimed autobiographical solo show written and performed by Benjamin Scheuer, opened last night, February 8th, at the Lynn Redgrave Theater at Culture Project (45 Bleecker Street). Directed by Sean Daniels, The Lion will play an extended engagement Off-Broadway through March 29th, following an award-winning run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and sold-out productions at the Manhattan Theatre Club and London's St. James Theatre.
