Berkeley Rep presents Shakespeare's dark and violent tragedy on the Roda Stage. This classic exploration of the ominous side of ambition tells the story of a couple bound together in their thirst for the Scottish throne. Driven by an evil prophesy and his scheming wife, Macbeth kills the king and claims his crown, thus beginning a moral descent into a reign of terror.

Yale Repertory Theatre presents the world premiere of THE MOORS by Jen Silverman, directed by Jackson Gay, beginning tonight, January 29, where it will run through February 20 at Yale Repertory Theatre (1120 Chapel Street). Opening Night is Thursday, February 4.

Anthony Giardina's Off-Broadway smash hit THE CITY OF CONVERSATION, about a Georgetown political hostess, makes its Washington, D.C. debut at Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater beginning tonight, January 29. Following his direction of the 2014 world premiere at Lincoln Center Theater, Tony Award winner Doug Hughes returns to direct this political drama spanning three decades, from Carter's presidency through the Reagan era and ending with Obama's inauguration. THE CITY OF CONVERSATION runs through March 6, 2016 in the Fichandler Stage.

Lynne Meadow (Artistic Director) and Barry Grove (Executive Producer) have just announced complete casting for Manhattan Theatre Club's upcoming American premiere of The Father, the new play by Moliere Award winner Florian Zeller, in a translation by two-time Tony Award winner Christopher Hampton (Sunset Boulevard, Les Liaisons Dangereuses, God of Carnage), in a new production directed by Tony Award winner Doug Hughes (Doubt, Outside Mullingar, City of Conversation) atMTC's Samuel J. 59E59 Theaters welcomes playwright Lauren Gunderson (Bauer) back to the 5A Season with NY premiere of her award-winning play I AND YOU, directed by Sean Daniels, and produced by Merrimack Repertory Theatre in association with Richard Winkler. I AND YOU opens tonight, January 27, for a limited engagement through Sunday, February 28. 

Theatreworks USA (Barbara Pasternack, Artistic Director; Ken Arthur, Producing Director) will continue its 2016 weekend family performance series this Sunday, January 31st, with The Lightning Thief, a musical adapted from the book The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan. The Lightning Thief features a book by Joe Tracz with music, lyrics, & orchestrations by Rob Rokicki. The Off-Broadway premiere of The Lightning Thief was nominated for Outstanding Musical by the Lortel Awards in 2015. This 60-minute musical is recommended for audiences age 8 and up.

Marin Theatre Company continues its 49th Season with the World Premiere of Rachel Bonds' Rella Lossy Award Winning play, Swimmers. Set in a contemporary office, Bonds' play explores the relationship paradigms of the work space environment through a set of diverse co-workers and their personal lives and habits.

"Mary's Wedding" premiers January 28 - February 21, 2016 at the Malibu Playhouse, officially launching their 2016 season under the helm of Jeremy Skidmore, world-renowned theater director and formerly Artistic Director of Theater Alliance in Washington, D.C.  Written by Stephen Massicotte and performed by Hallie Cooper and Mark Jude Sullivan, "MARY'S WEDDING," produced and directed by Skidmore, is a brilliant, romantic and historical dream play. When Mary and Charlie unexpectedly find one another sheltered in a barn during a thunderstorm, a tentative love is born. But the year is 1914, and their first flirtations ignite right as World War I begins to engulf the western world.  Nevertheless, their bond begins to fracture the hard rules of time as their story unfolds across vast prairies, on the decks of silently sailing war ships, and entwined with the chaotic trenches of Europe's no-man's land.  Mary's Wedding captures an extraordinary moment of innocence and courage with rare sensitivity and beauty.
