The Dog Days of Summer Arrive Early with A.R. Gurney's Comedy SYLVIA

The dog days of summer arrive early this year, as Rubicon Theatre Company presents a spring production of A.R. Gurney's howlingly funny canine comedy SYLVIA, a love story about empty nesters Greg and Kate, and an irrepressible mutt named Sylvia. Written by Drama Desk, Obie and Lortel Award-winning playwright A.R. Gurney (also known for Love Letters and The Dining Room), the plot follows what happens after a man going through a midlife crisis finds a dog in Central Park and brings her home without consulting his wife.

Quincy Tyler Bernstine to Star in Lynn Nottage's INTIMATE APPAREL at McCarter

McCarter Theatre Center closes the 2016-2017 Theater Series with a new production of Pulitzer Prize-winner Lynn Nottage's Intimate Apparel, a story of an African-American seamstress living in 1905 New York City pursuing her dreams of love and independence. Directed by Jade King Carroll, Intimate Apparel will run from May 5 to June 4.

THE WAR BOYS Enters Final Weeks at Access Theater

Naomi Wallace's searing psychological drama The War Boys, directed by James Will McBride, is entering its final two weeks at Access Theater (380 Broadway, NYC). Performances continue through April 16, 2017.

Up on the Marquee: THE LITTLE FOXES

Manhattan Theatre Club's new Broadway production of Lillian Hellman's The Little Foxes under the direction of Tony Award winner Daniel Sullivan, is currently in previews at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre. Laura Linney (Time Stands Still, Sight Unseen) and Cynthia Nixon (Rabbit Hole, Wit), will alternate playing the roles of Regina and Birdie, appearing opposite each other at every performance.

New Musicals COWBOY BOB and GUMBO Get 2017 Summer Labs at Yale Institute for Music Theatre

The Yale Institute for Music Theatre announces the two original book musicals which have been selected for this year's two-week summer lab: COWBOY BOB, created by Molly Beach Murphy, Jeanna Phillips, and Annie Tippe, book by Molly Beach Murphy, music and lyrics by Jeanna Phillips; and GUMBO, music by Brett Macias and book and lyrics by Christina Quintana.

Tony Nominee Martha Plimpton Will Be Feted at PFLAG's 2017 Straight for Equality Awards Gala

PFLAG National - the nation's largest organization uniting families, allies, and people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) - today announced it will honor Tony and Emmy Award-winning actress Martha Plimpton with the Straight for Equality in Entertainment award at the Ninth Annual Straight for Equality Awards Gala on Monday, March 27, 2017 at the Marriott Marquis New York in Times Square.
