Lineup Announced For Fifth Annual POWERS NEW VOICES FESTIVAL at the Old Globe

The Old Globe today announced it will present the fifth annual Powers New Voices Festival, a weekend of readings of new American plays by professional playwrights, playing January 12 14, 2018. The festival will kick off today, January 12 at 7:30 p.m. with Voices of the Community: Celebrating Local Playwrights, an evening of work created by San Diego residents through the Globe's arts engagement initiatives Community Voices and coLAB, and will continue with four readings by some of the most exciting voices writing for the American theatre today. The new American play readings commence on Saturday, January 13 at 4:00 p.m. with Laurel Ollstein's They Promised Her the Moon, directed by Giovanna Sardelli (Somewhere, The Whipping Man at the Globe), followed at 7:30 p.m. by Too Heavy for Your Pocket by Jir h Breon Holder, directed by Patricia McGregor (Globe for All's Measure for Measure).The Festival continues on Sunday, January 14 at 3:00 p.m. with The Tale of Despereaux, with book, music, and lyrics by PigPen Theatre Co. (The Old Man and The Old Moon at the Globe), based on the novel by Kate DiCamillo and the Universal Pictures animated motion picture. The Festival will wrap up that evening at 7:30 p.m. with The Great Leap by Lauren Yee, directed by Delicia Turner Sonnenberg (Globe's Skeleton Crew).

RTP Presents CORPUS CHRISTI

Richmond Triangle Players celebrates the city's annual Acts Of Faith Festival with a production of Tony Award-winning playwright Terrence McNally's Corpus Christi. A retelling of the New Testament, set in 1950s Texas, the play opens Thursday February 1 at 8:00 pm, following a low-priced preview on Wednesday January 31. The production is sponsored by Richmond furniture retailer LaDiff.

Lori Petty To Make NYC Directorial Debut With TRIAL, A New Play By Ashley Griffin

Trial, a new play by Ashley Griffin (Snow, Twilight the Unauthorized Musical Parody) and directed by Lori Petty (Orange is the New Black, A League of Their Own) is set to open at The American Theatre of Actors Beckmann Theater on January 11, 2018. This production is produced by THML Theater Company (Cagebirds, Where Angels Fear To Tread), a women-led company dedicated to engaging audiences with stories of women who survive and thrive.

Writers Announced For 2018 Johnny Mercer Writers Colony At Goodspeed

In what has become an annual ritual, a total of 36 established and emerging composers, lyricists, and librettists will converge on the Goodspeed campus from mid-January through mid-February 2018 to participate in the Johnny Mercer Foundation Writers Colony at Goodspeed Musicals. The writing teams, representing 18 new musicals, will populate the campus, creating a truly exciting environment for discovery and inspiration.

Christian Camargo Joins The Cast Of IRONBOUND at The Geffen Playhouse

The Geffen Playhouse today announced that Christian Camargo (Penny Dreadful, The Hurt Locker) has joined its West Coast Premiere of Martyna Majok's Ironbound, directed by Tyne Rafaeli (Actually). Camargo will play Tommy alongside Tony Award nominee Marin Ireland (Broadway's reasons to be pretty, Amazon's Sneaky Pete) as Darja and Josiah Bania (The Good Wife) as Maks, both of whom are reprising their Off-Broadway roles in the Geffen production, and Marcel Spears (The Mayor) as Vic.

Rebel Playhouse Presents CONSTELLARIUM, An Interactive Show Teaching Children What It Means To Be A Refugee

Rebel Playhouse presents CONSTELLARIUM, a play with music for young audiences, directed by Susanna Wolk and written by and starring Arif Silverman, in association with Access Theater on 380 Broadway. CONSTELLARIUM begins performances Friday, February 2 with a limited engagement through Sunday, February 18. The performance schedule is Fridays at 8pm, Saturdays at 2pm and 8pm, and Sundays at 2pm. The Lark Will Stage A BareBones Production Of Donja R. Love's IN THE MIDDLE

The Lark announces that after a five year hiatus, its BareBones program will return in March 2018, with a workshop production of In the Middle by Donja R. Love (soft, Sugar in Our Wounds) to be directed by Saheem Ali (Twelfth Night, The Public Theater). In the Middle is the third and final play in Love's trilogy, The Love* Plays, a surrealistic exploration of *Queer Love during pivotal moments in Black History: Slavery (Sugar in Our Wounds), The Civil Rights Movement (Fireflies), and the Black Lives Matter movement (In the Middle). The workshop will run at The Lark's BareBones Studio from March 2 11, 2018, at 311 West 43rd Street, 5th Floor, in New York City.

Obie & Drama Desk Winner Deirdre O'Connell to Star in TERMINUS at Next Door at NYTW

Monk Parrots announce casting for their New York premiere of Gabriel Jason Dean's (Princeton Hodder Fellow, Dramatist's Guild Fellowship, Broadway Blacklist) critically acclaimed play TERMINUS, directed by Lucie Tiberghien (The Other Thing, Don't Go Gentle, Soldier X, Hoodoo Love, The Pavilion). Kitchen Theatre Company Begins 2018 with A Play About An Immigrant's Experience

PROFILE THEATRE presents a production of the comedic drama 2.5 Minute Ride by Pulitzer and Tony-winning playwright Lisa Kron. Riding the rails of humor and horror, this solo performance features NYC-based actor Allison Mickelson, who recently impressed audiences at Portland Center Stage in Lisa Kron's award-winning musical Fun Home. Cleveland Play House (CPH) is proud to bring George Brant's Marie and Rosetta to the Allen Theatre stage. Marie and Rosetta chronicles the story of 2018 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Early Influence Inductee Sister Rosetta Tharpe and her counterpart Marie Knight as they changed the landscape of modern music.
