The award winning Arvada Center brings Christmas joy with MIRACLE ON 34TH STREET-THE MUSICAL playing now through December 23rd. The musical is based on the story 'Miracle on 34th Street' by Valentine Davies; book, music and lyrics were written and composed by Meredith Willson (The Music Man and The Unsinkable Molly Brown). As Miracle on 34th Street unfolds, a wise old white bearded gentlemen claiming to be Kris Kringle shows up in New York City only to discover that the holiday to which he is eternally associated has become tarnished by commercialism and greed. When he gets hired as Santa Claus at Macy's, the jolly old gentleman goes about setting things right - even as events conspire against him. Based on the delightful movie classic that starred Edmund Gwenn as Kringle and a young Natalie Wood, this musical version includes memorable songs such as 'Jolly Old St. Nicholas,' 'The Holly and the Ivy' and more. As we get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the season, we all need a little break to remember that miracles do happen. The network currently attracts 22 million subscribers and will be available to 58 million more, for one weekend only. GOING BIG, the next installment of ESPN Films' SEC 'Storied' series, will premiere tonight, Dec. 20, at 9 p.m. ET on ESPNU. The film chronicles former basketball player Sam Bowie's trying career, which was plagued by injuries in college and the NBA and overshadowed by his draft placement.

Emmy Rossum is a double threat. The Award-winning actress will be releasing her first album with Warner Bros. Records on January 29th. The album, titled Sentimental Journey, will feature a collection of covers done of classic songs spanning the 1920's to the 1960's.

Not to let Christmas go by unscathed, Seattle Public Theater has cooked up two somewhat off kilter Christmas shows this year. Each containing something for theater goers of all ages, they may not be your typical holiday fare but they are a breath of fresh air from the norm and both left this jaded audience member thrilled to have a little something extra slipped into his eggnog.

Prepare to experience The Nutcracker like never seen before as Flat Rock Playhouse, in partnership with Pardee Hospital and Pardee Hospital Foundation, presents the world premiere of The Nutcracker, adapted by Chase Brock from E. T. A. Hoffman's story The Nutcracker and The Mouse King onstage now through December 22 at Playhouse Mainstage. This new interpretation of the holiday all-dance classic is choreographed by Playhouse YouTheatre alum Chase Brock, choreographer of the Broadway hit, Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark. On December 4, 1998, Gus van Sant's shot-for-shot remake of Alfred Hitchcock's 1960 classic horror film PSYCHO was released in theaters. The film has gone down in history as one of the most 'pointless' remakes, according to the great film critic Roger Ebert.

The parade seen is terrifically stages with marching bands, entertaining acts and the famous Macy's balloons all depicted while Music Director Richard DeRosa and his five-man band play a score by Meredith "Music Man" Wilson that includes "It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas." Alexander Butler as Mara's grandson is adorable as is Grace Rundhaug, who believes in Santa when Kris is able to speak to her in her native Dutch. The real Macy's over at Waterbury's Brass Mill Mall also got involved in the production, decorating the theater lobby and providing discount cards in the program.

Miracle On 34th Street, with Music By Doug Smith, Book and Lyrics by Vern Stefanic, is directed and choreographed by Richard Stafford, with musical direction by Leo P. Warner Bros. Records has announced that it has signed vocalist and award-winning actress Emmy Rossum to its roster. The New York City native will release her first album for the label, a collection of covers of classic songs that span the '20s to the '60s entitled Sentimental Journey, on January 29th, 2013.

Just in time for the holidays, Westchester Broadway Theatre (One Broadway Plaza, Elmsford, NY 10523) will present Miracle on 34th Street from tonight, November 29 through December 31. Based on a holiday tale written by Valentine Davies and made famous by the movie of the same name, Miracle On 34th Street has music composed by Doug Smith and book and lyrics by Vern Stefanic.
