Cathy Rigby to Star as 'Cat in the Hat' in 3D Theatricals' SEUSSICAL Next Month

Broadway Tony Award nominee and former Olympic Gold medal gymnast Cathy Rigby stars as 'Cat in the Hat' in Seussical the Musical which officially opens the LA Ovation Award winning 3D Theatricals' (3DT) 2015 musical theatre season. This delightful, whimsical show has been set for ten performances at Fullerton's historic Plummer Auditorium February 7 - 22; and six performances February 28 - March 8 at the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center.

The ASCAP Foundation Awards Ceremony was held at The Appel Room at Jazz at Lincoln Center and Broadwayworld was there. This years recipient of the Masters Award was composer John Corigliano. Mr. Corigliano has also won fiver Grammy's a Pulitzer Prize the Grawemeyer Award and an Academy Award for his many scores and compositions. Rupert Holmes, Composer, Playwright, lyricist, mystery novelist, arranger-conductor, screenwriter, record producer and singer-songwriter received the Foundations George M. Cohan Award which is made possible by the Friars Foundation.

Rayna Hirt, Michael Czyz Receive 'George M. Cohan Award'

The 13th Street Rep's 'George M. Cohan Song-and-Dance Award'-honoring a triple-threat singer/dancer/actor--has this year been presented to two people: Rayna Hirt and Michael Czyz. Cohan himself-the quintessential song-and-dance man-may have long since gone to his reward. But his great-granddaughter, singer/actress Jennifer Cohan Ross, was on hand to present the awards. The 13th Street Rep's 97-year-old founder/artistic director, Edith O'Hara-a longtime believer in the importance of encouraging fresh talent--was there, too, to congratulate the winners. Playwright Chip Deffaa, whose work has often been presented by the theater, emceed the event.

13th Street Rep to Hold EDDIE CANTOR DAY, 11/24

Monday, November 24th will be "Eddie Cantor Day" at "One Night with Fanny Brice," the long-running musical play at the 13th Street Repertory Theater (50 W. 13th Street, NYC).

Emily Bordonaro Receives 13th Street Rep's 'Betty Buckley Award'

The 13th Street Rep's 'Betty Buckley Award'-honoring a 'young artist-to-watch'--has been presented to Emily Bordonaro, 18. Tony Award-winner Betty Buckley-who was performing a concert several thousand miles away on the night of the awards presentation in New York City--presented the award via videotape.

ADM:21 Presents Works from GEORGE M!, A CHORUS LINE, IN THE HEIGHTS and More, Now thru 11/16

American Dance Machine for the 21st Century (ADM21) will present 15 show-stopping musical theater dance numbers performed by stars from the musical theater and dance worlds during its Joyce Theater debut today, November 11-16, announced Nikki Feirt Atkins, Founder and Executive Artistic Director and Margo Sappington, Artistic Director. All performances will feature live music and will be directed by Margo Sappington with musical direction by Eugene Gwozdz.

CSO Presents Tribute to Boston Pops Tonight

The Chattanooga Symphony & Opera will be opening its 2014/15 Luken Holdings Pops Series with a Boston Pops Tribute: A Salute to Arthur Fiedler and John Williams tonight, October 25 at 7:30pm at the Tivoli Theatre. Principal Pops Conductor Bob Bernhardt will be leading the first half with marches and light classics, favorites of Arthur Fiedler, a 50-year conductor for the Boston Pops. Works include The Washington Post, the George M. Cohan Salute, Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 20, and Rachmaninoff's popular 2nd piano concerto. Michael Chertock, a featured guest with the Boston Pops for several years, will be featured on piano.

Jon Peterson's HE WROTE GOOD SONGS Comes to The Triad, 10/27

Monday, October 27 at 9:00 pm there will be a special performance at State 72 / The Triad, 158 West 72 Street (just off Broadway). Written and performed by Jon Peterson, "He Wrote Good Songs" is the story of Anthony Newley, the legendary British actor, singer, song-writer, director.

13th Street Rep's THEATER BOYS Cast Album Out Today

Famed gossip columnist Liz Smith -- 'the Grande Dame of Dish' -- has won countless honors, including an Emmy Award, in her long career. But she's never before been depicted on the stage. In 'Theater Boys' -- the new musical comedy by ASCAP Award-winner Chip Deffaa, now playing at the 13th Street Repertory Theater -- she's not only a character in the show, she's the subject of a whole song about her, a rousing fast-boogie simply titled 'Liz Smith.' That song will also be heard on the show's cast album (sung by Ricky Schroder and the ensemble), being released today, October 18th.

13th Street Rep to Stage Five Shows About Irving Berlin

When ASCAP Award-winning playwright/director Chip Deffaa's 'The Irving Berlin Ragtime Revue' has its world premiere at the 13th Street Repertory Theater on November 9th, it will be the second new show about Berlin to play the theater this year.

SINGIN' IN THE RAIN, SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROTHERS & More Will Be Featured in CLASSIC HOLLYWOOD MUSICALS on PBS

Featuring some of the most iconic images ever recorded on film, five classic Hollywood musicals -- The Wizard of Oz, Yankee Doodle Dandy, Singin' in the Rain, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, and Viva Las Vegas -- take viewers on a journey across the Golden Age of movie musicals, spanning the days from the Great Depression all the way to the Civil Rights Movement. With foot-stomping dance numbers, Technicolor fantasy worlds, and soaring ballads sung by some of the world's most beloved stars, these movies still inspire audiences to laugh, love and dream -- even when times are tough. Hosted by Nick Clooney, CLASSIC HOLLYWOOD MUSICALS is part of special programming premiering on PBS stations beginning November 29, 2014 (check local listings).
