The American Theatre Wing nominated two plays commissioned by the Oregon Shakespeare Festival for 2017 Tony Awards today, including Best Play. Commissioned through OSF's American Revolutions: The United States History Cycle, Sweat by Lynn Nottage and Indecent by Paula Vogel each received three nominations.

Kansas City Repertory Theatre elevates its profile in the national theatre community with the second annual OriginKC: NEW WORKS FESTIVAL. In addition to a striking lineup of playwrights and directors for this year's festival, an impressive list of arts leaders from preeminent regional theaters across the country will be attending the Festival Weekend, May 12-13.

New York's Public Theater and London's National Theatre announced initial casting today for the special one-night-only public staged reading of ALL THE PRESIDENT'S MEN? Scenes from the Senate Confirmation Hearings of President Trump's Cabinet on Thursday, May 11 at 8:00 p.m. at Town Hall (123 West 43rd Street).

Playwrights Horizons (Artistic Director, Tim Sanford; Managing Director, Leslie Marcus) has announced that the score for their World Premiere production of the musical IOWA has been preserved as an Original Cast Recording, produced by Michael Croiter (Matilda, The Visit, Big Fish) and Todd Almond. IOWA is written by Jenny Schwartz (God's Ear, Somewhere Fun) with music by Todd Almond (Girlfriend) and lyrics by Ms. Schwartz and Mr. Almond.

Lynne Meadow (Artistic Director) and Barry Grove (Executive Producer) have announced two-time Olivier Award nominee Michael Xavier will join Manhattan Theatre Club's upcoming Broadway premiere of Prince of Broadway, a musical celebration that highlights the extraordinary six-decade career of director and producer Harold Prince.

A Doll's House, Part 2 opens tonight, April 27, at the John Golden Theatre.  Produced by Scott Rudin and directed by Tony Award®-winner Sam Gold, this wildly inventive new American play picks up after Henrik Ibsen's most cherished work concludes. In the final scene of Ibsen's 1879 ground-breaking masterwork, Nora Helmer makes the shocking decision to leave her husband and children, and begin a life on her own. This climactic event - when Nora slams the door on everything in her life - instantly propelled world drama into the modern age. In A Doll's House, Part 2, many years have passed since Nora's exit. Earlier this morning, Laura Benanti (She Loves Me, Gypsy) and Javier Muñoz (Hamilton, In the Heights) announced the nominations for the 62nd Annual Drama Desk Awards.

Beginning May 18, renowned “flex” dance pioneers Reggie (Regg Roc) Gray and his D.R.E.A.M. Ring dance activists take the Park Avenue Armory stage once again with FLEXN Evolution, launching the international tour of the re-envisioned Armory commission co-directed by Gray and visionary director Peter Sellars.
