Once again those summer months are upon us but that doesn't mean we can't still spend some time in a darkened theater. Here are my top picks for summer shows happening around the Seattle area.
Steppenwolf Theatre Company is pleased to announce the final two directors in the 2016/17 Subscription Season-Dexter Bullard will direct the world premiere production of ensemble member Tracy Letts's Linda Vista and Hallie Gordon will direct the Chicago premiere of Taylor Mac's Hir.

Artistic Director Molly Smith announces Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright and author Ayad Akhtar as Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater's next resident playwright as part of the American Voices New Play Institute, effective July 2016 through June 2017. Akhtar's emotionally-charged drama Disgraced, which won the 2013 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, completes Arena Stage's 2015/16 season. Now in previews, the production officially opens April 28 and runs through May 29, 2016.

Rivendell Theatre Ensemble (RTE), Chicago's only Equity theatre dedicated to producing new work with women at the core, announces the midwest premiere of Dry Land by Ruby Rae Spiegel. The production, directed by RTE member Hallie Gordon, runs April 22 - May 28, 2016, at Rivendell Theatre Ensemble, 5779 N. Ridge Avenue in Chicago.
