Heidi Duckler Dance Presents EBB & FLOW: CULVER CITY

Los Angeles-based company, Heidi Duckler Dance (HDD) is proud to present Ebb & Flow: Culver City 2019. After a successful one day event in 2018, HDD was asked to bring the festival back to the Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook for two days in 2019! The festival will take place at the Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook from 11 am - 7 pm on February 23 and 24, 2019.

Joffrey Ballet Announces Winners of Winning Works

The Joffrey Academy of Dance, Official School of The Joffrey Ballet, announces the recipients of the ninth annual Winning Works Choreographic Competition: Tommie-Waheed Evans, Marissa Osato, Xiang Xu and Edgar Zendejas. This announcement follows a national call for ALAANA (African, Latinx, Asian, Arab and Native American) artists to submit applications, which began in June. The choreographers' world premiere works will be showcased on the members of the Joffrey Studio Company and the Joffrey Academy Trainee Program.

It is an evening of intertwining, sharing, searching, feeling, expressing and truth. It signifies also, to me, what is needed in our government structure today... a true conglomeration of all aspects to arrive at the best possible conclusion that will be of most benefit to ALL.

Lula Washington, an L. A. native from Watts, along with her husband Erwin Washington and daughter Tamica Washington Miller, have been the incumbent founders, creators, directors and choreographers of the LULA WASHINGTON DANCE THEATRE since 1980. They began with the goal to motivate, educate, inspire, challenge and enrich the lives of young people so they could become successful, productive and competitive citizens. Thirty years later, and now a major dance company all over the world, their appearance here in Los Angeles at The Ford Theatre was an incredible ensemble of dance works choreographed by a variety of talented artists, including Lula and Tamica, and performed by one of the most powerful, strong and exciting company of dancers on the planet.

The Ford Theatres today announced the 2018 season of events at the fully transformed John Anson Ford Theatres. The 2018 season will open on Friday, June 1 with Chano Dominguez'sFlamenco Sketches, a reimagining of Miles Davis' Kind of Blue, the best-selling jazz album in the world, featuring Chano on piano and National Flamenco Contest (Cordoba, Spain) winner Daniel Navarro, and will conclude on Sunday, October 28 with a new site-specific work by the always innovative Heidi Duckler Dance Theatre.

The 2017/18 season of world-class dance, music and theater continues as the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts (The Wallis) presents its third annual Winter @ The Wallis series. This year, Winter @ The Wallis programming grows to eighteen events to be performed in the Bram Goldsmith Theater and the intimate Lovelace Studio Theater, beginning on Saturday, January 6 with the classical music duo, violinist Sarah Chang and pianist Julio Elizalde. Other highlights include: The Wallis debut of the L.A.-based dance company Lula Washington Dance Theatre; a weekend celebrating the great jazz legend Arturo Sandoval along with other local jazz artists; the modern music collective wild Up under the baton of founder Christopher Rountree; the return of the innovative United Kingdom-based theater company Kneehigh with The Flying Lovers of Vitebsk; and the world premiere of Tom Dugan's Jackie Unveiled.
