BWW Reviews: Jazz Comes to Life in Orlando Shakes' 'A NIGHT IN NEW ORLEANS'

Based off the popular Magic Tree House book series by Mary Pope Osborne, A NIGHT IN NEW ORLEANS makes its rolling world premiere at Orlando Shakespeare. Not only does this production introduce young audiences to musical theater, it also provided Orlando public school students with an opportunity to receive a generous book donations from amazing corporate partners. Kids of all ages will enjoy reading the stories and then seeing it come to life on stage.

Louis Armstrong House Museum to Announces Holiday Tours

Hear the rare recording of Louis Armstrong's magical reading of 'Twas the Night Before Christmas (A Visit from St. Nicholas).' Enjoy holiday cheer this year at the Louis Armstrong House Museum with the museum's annual holiday tours! In keeping with Louis and Lucille's tradition, the house will be brightly decorated. From December 3rd through December 29th 2013, house tours will feature rare audio clips from Louis's personal recordings of himself and family celebrations at home. Listen to Louis's magical voice reading 'Twas the Night Before Christmas (A Visit from St. Nicholas)' and other seasonal favorites such as 'Zat You Santa Claus' and Louis listening to Nat King Cole sing 'All I Want for Christmas is My Two Front Teeth.' Free candy canes included with museum admission.

Stanley Crouch President of The Louis Armstrong Educational Foundation Announces Organizational Leadership Changes

Today, Stanley Crouch president of the Louis Armstrong EducationalFoundation, Inc. announced organizational leadership changes. The legendary Louis Armstrong, widely known for shifting the direction of American music, through jazz, appointed Phoebe Jacobs as the driving force behind the Louis Armstrong Educational Foundation. Until April of last year she was the Foundation's Executive Vice President, and “the face” of the organization. With her passing in 2012 the Foundation has continued the mission which has for 36 years been the living legacy of Louis Armstrong providing support to music education organizations that are preserving America's classical music, Jazz.

LIGHTS, CAMERA, ASTORIA! Exhibition Opens Today at Moving Image

Museum of the Moving Image pays tribute to the legacy of filmmaking in Astoria with an exhibition that traces the history of the Astoria studio, a local landmark with deep roots in the culture of New York City. Lights, Camera, Astoria!, on view from today, October 26, 2013, through February 9, 2014, explores each phase of the site from its start as Paramount Pictures's East Coast production facility in the 1920s, a center for independent filmmaking in the 1930s, the U.S. Army Pictorial Center from World War II into the Cold War, the site's rebirth in the late 1970s, to the present day Kaufman Astoria Studios, a thriving motion picture and television studio, and a vibrant cultural hub that includes Museum of the Moving Image, Frank Sinatra School of the Arts, and restaurants and cafes.

Performance Network to Present JERRY'S GIRLS, 11/14-1/5

During the holiday season Performance Network Theatre presents a new take on the larger than life Broadway musical "Jerry's Girls", a revue of the work of Jerry Herman who wrote the music for shows such as "Hello, Dolly!", "La Cage Aux Folles", and "Mame". "Jerry's Girls" is directed by Carla Milarch and stars an all female cast including award-winning musical theatre actress, Naz Edwards, from November 14 - January 5, 2014 as well as a special New Year's Eve performance followed by a champagne toast at midnight. Brian Woodruff's OKB Trio & More Set for Flushing Town Hall Music Mix Series this Fall

Our 2nd floor theater will be closed from mid- October through Spring 2014 for renovations, so our gallery will become the go-to place for great music, including a new series- the Music Mix Series. These concerts will offer both traditional and new jazz in an intimate setting. All artist are selected by the Queens Jazz Overground and our Jazz Producer Clyde Bullard.

National Dance Institute Celebrates New Orleans at Symphony Space Today
