Miah Im Joins Aspen Opera Program As Head Coach

The Aspen Music Festival and School has announced the appointment of Miah Im as AMFS artist-faculty member for its new Aspen Opera Theater and VocalARTS Program, joining co-artistic directors Renée Fleming and Patrick Summers. Im is a leading opera pedagogue and professional opera coach, and she returns to Aspen as the new opera program's head coach. She has a deep connection with the AMFS, having attended as a fellowship student; she later served on faculty as an opera coach.

Segerstrom Center Offers LIVE FROM THE WEST SIDE: WOMEN OF BROADWAY

Segerstrom Center for the Arts has announced three new livestream concert events that are part of the Live from the West Side series which began last month with a performance by Christopher Jackson. Live from the West Side: Women of Broadway features two-time Tony Award winner Patti LuPone on October 24, Tony Award winner Laura Benanti on November 14, and critically acclaimed actress and singer Vanessa Williams on December 5. All performances are at 5 pm, Pacific Time.

Dallas Summer Musicals announced today that it is co-producing a three-part virtual concert series, Live from the West Side: Women of Broadway, featuring two-time Tony Award winner Patti LuPone on Oct. 24, Tony Award winner Laura Benanti on Nov. 14, and critically acclaimed actress and singer Vanessa Williams on Dec. 5. Tickets are on sale now.

Baritone Lucas Meachem and his wife, pianist Irina Meachem, sang an aria-filled recital on to open the Merola Opera Program Recital Series September 27, 2020. The Meachems opened the recital with the aria a?oeBella siccome un angeloa?? (a?oeBeautiful as an Angela??) from Donizettia??s Don Pasquale. Lucas acted with his voice to show not only its power and huge sound but also his ability to control it and sing with a mere thread of sound when describing the sweetness of the young lady.
