Westport Country Playhouse opens its 2015 Season with the comedy, 'The Liar,' an adaptation by David Ives of Pierre Corneille's classic comedy that weaves an increasingly intricate web of lies leading to hilarious romantic misadventures. DARLING GRENADINE in Concert Set for 5/12

Darling Grenadine is the whimsical new musical from singer-songwriter Daniel Zaitchik.  It tells the story of a successful commercial composer and his precarious relationships with his girlfriend, his brother, and his Labrador Retriever.

Celebrating the Playhouse's 85th season, the comedy will run tonight, May 5 - 23, directed by Penny Metropulos.

Lauren Blumenfeld to Star in RICH GIRL at The Old Globe; Full Cast Announced!

The Old Globe today announced the complete cast and creative team for the West Coast premiere of an exciting new American play, Rich Girl, by acclaimed playwright Victoria Stewart, continuing the Globe's 80th Anniversary festivities as part of the Balboa Park Centennial Celebration. Rich Girl will be directed by James Vasquez (Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, Richard O'Brien's The Rocky Horror Show), and will play May 23 - June 21, 2015, in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center.

A.R.T. Institute to Present 'MUCH ADO' & 'DESDEMONA'

The American Repertory Theater/Moscow Art Theater School Institute for Advanced Theater Training, presents the last two productions of its season, William Shakespeare's comedy Much Ado About Nothing, directed by Anya Safir, and Paula Vogel's Desdemona: A Play About a Handkerchief, directed by Melia Bensussen.

Amanda Seyfried Makes Off-Broadway Debut Opposite Thomas Sadoski in THE WAY WE GET BY, Beginning Tonight at Second Stage

Second Stage Theatre welcomes film star Amanda Seyfried (Les Miserables, Dear John, Mamma Mia!, upcoming Ted 2 and Pan) in her off-Broadway debut opposite Thomas Sadoski (The Newsroom, Wild, upcoming in NBC's The Slap) in the world premiere production of NEIL LaBUTE's drama, The Way We Get By. Directed by Tony nominee LEIGH SILVERMAN, the production begins previews tonight, April 28, 2015 and officially opens on May 20, 2015 at Second Stage Theatre, 305 West 43rd Street.

Anna Deavere Smith Coming to Philadelphia Theatre Company, 5/11

Actress, playwright, and social commentator Anna Deavere Smith concludes Philadelphia Theatre Company's new Theater Masters series on Monday, May 11 at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre (Broad and Lombard Streets).  Launched as part of PTC's celebration of its 40th Anniversary season, Theatre Masters offers an array of Monday night on-stage interviews with major theatre artists with whom PTC has worked, each sharing their personal journey of transformation and creative growth over time and how it has impacted both their art and their lives.

Berkeley Rep Stages West Coast Premiere of HEAD OF PASSES, Now thru 5/24

Berkeley Repertory Theatre proudly welcomes MacArthur 'Genius' Award winner Tarell Alvin McCraney for the West Coast premiere of Head of Passes, a poignant and poetic story about the journey of family and faith, trial and tribulation. In a dilapidated house near the ever-shifting mouth of the Mississippi, Shelah's family gathers on a stormy night for her birthday -- bringing ghosts and secrets of the past with them. As her roof buckles under the weight of the rain, Shelah's convictions begin to wash away, leaving her to excavate the truths buried below. Directed by Tina Landau, the riveting Head of Passes comes to the Bay Area straight from its critically lauded world premiere in Chicago. Head of Passes is a co-production with the Public Theater in New York. It begins previews on Berkeley Rep's intimate Thrust Stage today, April 10, opens today, April 17, and runs through Sunday, May 24, 2015. Press night for Head of Passes will be held today, April 17, 2015.

TBTB to Host Gala Celebrating THE UNEXPECTED GUEST & Founding Artistic Director, 4/19

Theater Breaking Through Barriers (TBTB) celebrates the 35-year legacy of its Founding Artistic Director Ike Schambelan and the opening night of its current production, Agatha Christie's rarely seen 1958 thriller THE UNEXPECTED GUEST, with a gala benefit on Sunday, April 19. The performance begins at 6:00pm at Theatre Row's Clurman Theatre (410 West 42nd Street). A reception with the cast, TBTB members, and special guests follows the performance, at 8:30pm, at Playwrights Horizons (416 West 42nd Street).

SATCHMO AT THE WALDORF to Play The Wallis, 5/26-6/7

Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts ('The Wallis') presents the Long Wharf Theatre and Shakespeare & Company Production of Satchmo at the Waldorf by Terry Teachout, directed by Long Wharf Theatre Artistic Director Gordon Edelstein and starring Obie winner John Douglas Thompson in a tour de force multiple-character solo performance, arriving in Los Angeles following hit sold-out runs at the Long Wharf Theatre, Shakespeare & Company and Off-Broadway. The engagement plays May 26 through June 7, 2015, in the Lovelace Studio Theater; press opening is May 27.

The evening's master of ceremonies was Tony Nominee Bryce Pinkham, who is currently starring in Broadway's The Heidi Chronicles and received a Tony nomination for his performance in A Gentleman's Guide to Love & Murder.
