The 2008 Tony and Grammy Award-winning Best Musical In The Heights welcomed platinum recording artist and 2007 'American Idol' winner Jordin Sparks on August 19th, making her Broadway debut as Nina Rosario at Broadway's Richard Rodgers Theatre (226 West 46th Street). Sparks will play a limited 12 week engagement through Sunday, November 14, 2010. On September 5, 2010, IN THE HEIGHTS creator Lin-Manuel Miranda wed his long-time girlfriend, Vanessa, in an intimate celebration amongst family and friends. For the evening's surprise tribute to the bride, Manuel recruited his family, his new in-laws, the bridesmaids and groomsmen, and some old HEIGHTS buddies to perform To Life (L'Chaim) from FIDDLER ON THE ROOF. On August 19, 2010, In The Heights welcomed Kyle Beltran as Broadway's resident bodega owner, 'Usnavi,' following the footsteps of Heights creator Lin-Manuel Miranda and, most recently, Corbin Bleu. No stranger to the show, or the part of 'Usnavi,' Beltran originated the lovable role on the First National Tour of In The Heights, which opened last October in Tampa.

On September 3, 4, and 5, the sounds and glamour of Broadway will take over Jones Hall! The Houston Symphony and Principal Pops Conductor Michael Krajewski kick-off their Cynthia Woods Mitchell POPS at Jones Hallseries with a spectacular musical showcase called Broadway Rocks!

Musical numbers for the 2010 Broadway on Broadway concert (www.broadwayonbroadway.com) were announced today by The Broadway League and the Times Square Alliance. La Cage Aux Folles star Kelsey Grammer will host the 19th annual concert, which is presented by HUE Leggings and Continental Airlines and officially sponsored by The New York Times, to be held this Sunday, September 12th at 11:30am in Times Square. The annual free outdoor concert brings together stars and performances from current and upcoming Broadway productions to celebrate the beginning of the Broadway season. For the 3rd consecutive year, Alex Lacamoire will be the Musical Director of Broadway on Broadway.

Broadwayworld.com as confirmed that Jordin Sparks is expected to return to Broadway's IN THE HEIGHTS on September 2. As reported previously, Sparks suffered a hip injury during Act 1 of the August 28 performance and has been sitting out since.

As reported previously, Jordin Sparks, who is currently making her Broadway debut in IN THE HEIGHTS suffered a hip injury during the August 28 performance of the show. Sparks missed both shows Sunday, August 29, and she will repotedly also sit out on the 30th.

The star posted on Twitter last night after being injured in the show that 'Got my 1st broadway injury tonight. Hurt my hip in the first act. But I finished the show! Thank you so much to everyone who came tonight. Sorry I couldn't sign. :( It's hard to stand/walk.
