The Laguna Playouse will present Hershey Felder's newest production, award-winning concert pianist Mona Golabek starring in the one-woman show, based on a true story, THE PIANIST OF WILLESDEN LANE. Adapted and directed by audience favorite Hershey Felder and based on the book The Children of Willesden Lane by Golabek and Lee Cohen, this music-filled evening recounts the personal story of Ms. Golabek's mother in Nazi-occupied Europe. THE PIANIST OF WILLESDEN LANE will perform for two weeks only beginning tonight, May 29 through Sunday, June 9 at the Laguna Playhouse, Moulton Theatre, 606 Laguna Canyon Rd. in Laguna Beach.

Eight revolutionary music programs will join forces for The First Annual El Sistema Greater Boston Showcase on June 1st at the Franklin Institute in the South End. Anita Walker, Executive Director of the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency that promotes excellence, access, education, and diversity in the arts, will host the afternoon portion of this monumental performance for the blossoming El Sistema movement. The event, sponsored in part by the Free For All Concert Fund, will begin with an afternoon "performathon" of musical offerings from each of the eight programs. It will culminate in an evening Gala Concert featuring the Boston Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, led by maestro Benjamin Zander and Conservatory Lab Charter School's advanced Dudamel Orchestra, under the baton of Adrian Anantawan. The event is organized by Conservatory Lab Charter School and the Boston Philharmonic Youth Orchestra.

Clarinetist Thomas Piercy Brings TOKYO TO NEW YORK Today

NYC and Tokyo-based clarinetist, Thomas Piercy performs two concerts of new music by contemporary Japanese composers based on their thoughts about NYC and works by non-Japanese composers influenced or inspired by Japan. The concerts will be visually backed by projections of photos of New York City by photographer Christina Boers and photos of Tokyo by Thomas Piercy. Many of the pieces have been composed for and premiered by Mr. Piercy. Several of the pieces include the combination of Western classical instruments with traditional Japanese instruments (shakuhachi and hichiriki).
