Lionsgate's DREDD Tops Sales Charts as Biggest Home Entertainment Release of 2012

The verdict is in and Lionsgate (NYSE: LGF), a leading global entertainment company, announced today that the home entertainment release of DREDD claimed the number one spot on the DVD sell-through and Blu-ray charts with 650,000 units sold, making it the best-selling new release title of the year. Blu-ray units accounted for nearly 50% of week 1 POS at retail. In addition, the critically acclaimed thriller, starring Karl Urban (Star Trek) as the titular character Judge Dredd, was the top film download for the week, outpacing all other titles in digital sales as well.

According to TorrentFreak.com, HBO's GAME OF THRONES was the most pirated TV shows of the year. Other series on the list included Dexter, The Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother, Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead.

GAME OF THRONES, HBO's fantasty epic, is set to receive an extra bump time-wise next season. Entertainment Weekly has confirmed that the third season of the televised adaptation of George R.R. Martin's series' will run a few minutes longer than in previous seasons.

Before the second-season finale of GAME OF THRONES debuts next SUNDAY, JUNE 3 (9:00-10:05 p.m. ET/PT) on the main HBO channel, fans can catch up on the season with a marathon of the preceding nine episodes. Starting today, June 2 at 6:00 p.m. (ET/PT), the HBO Zone channel will present all nine episodes back-to-back three times, ending right before the season finale debuts on HBO.
