Ken Davenport, producer of the off-Broadway staple Altar Boyz, has announced today that the show will play its final performance on January 10, 2010 at 7:30pm at its home, New World Stages after playing 2023 performances. It is the 9th longest running off-Broadway musical in history.

Ken Davenport and Robyn Goodman have announce that Neil Haskell, featured on Fox's hit reality show 'So You Think You Can Dance,' will return to the cast of Altar Boyz, the acclaimed musical comedy at New World Stages, reprising the role of Luke, for one week only, beginning tomorrow, Friday October 30th. He replaces Lee Markham who will return Wednesday November 4th.

ALTAR BOYZ announced today that it would be changing the lyrics to the song 'The Calling' (the Gary Adler tune that includes the popular lyric 'Jesus Called Me On My Cell Phone'). Long running shows need to keep up with ever changing technology and Altar Boyz is no exception. Beginning this week, Mark will no longer sing of Jesus ?beeping' him, but instead will hear from JC on Twitter! The new lyric is 'I felt a vibrating feeling on the belt loop of my pants. Jesus tweeted on my twitter, a message texted from above.'

The newest Jet, Mark Sanchez went from the Locker Room to the Dressing Room, when he stopped by ALTAR BOYZ this weekend to check out the show and see the BOYZ. Sanchez is the new quarterback for the New York Jets of the National Football League. He was drafted by the Jets fifth overall in the 2009 NFL Draft.

ALTAR BOYZ announced today that it would be changing its schedule for the summer: beginning Saturday July 4th, the Saturday matinee would be at 4 pm. Beginning Sunday July 12th, the Sunday evening performance will begin at 7:30 pm. Saturday matinees at 2 pm will resume after Labor Day, but the Sunday evening performance will remain at 7:30 pm permanently.
