OUTFEST Announces 2012 Fusion Lineup

Outfest, the Los Angeles-based nonprofit organization dedicated to nurturing, showcasing and protecting lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) media, has announced its lineup for Fusion: the Los Angeles LGBT People of Color Film Festival.

Oprah Winfrey to Star in Lee Daniel's THE BUTLER?

As first reported in the Hollywood Reporter, media queen Oprah Winfrey is considering a return to the big screen in Lee Daniel's film THE BUTLER. The film will tell the story of Eugene Allen, an African-American who served as a butler in the White House through eight presidential administrations from 1952 - 1986.

Lee Daniels to Direct ANNA IN THE TROPICS Film

Lee Daniels, who's most well known for directing PRECIOUS, has just signed on to develop and to direct ANNA IN THE TROPICS, a film adaptation of Nilo Cruz's Pulitzer and Steinberg Prize-winning play, reports the Hollywood Reporter. Cruz is on board to help develop the script as well.

On Wednesday, November 10, The 2010 Princess Grace Awards were held at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City. The Awards ceremony included the presentation of 21 awards to emerging artists in theater, dance and film as well as the Prince Rainier III Award, presented to Denzel and Pauletta Washington, and the Princess Grace Statue Award to be presented to Anna D. Shapiro. The Award recipients hail from cities and states across America and traveled to New York City to receive their honor at the glamorous black tie ceremony. The 28th Annual Princess Grace Awards Gala took place in the presence of Her Royal Highness Caroline Princess of Hanover. The evening was co-chaired by Bonnie Pfeifer Evans. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is extending invitations to join the organization to 135 artists and executives who have distinguished themselves by their contributions to theatrical motion pictures. Those who accept the invitation will be the only additions in 2010 to the Academy's roster of voting members. Included in this year's list are Tony Award nominees James Gandolfini (GOD OF CARNAGE) and Anna Kendrick (HIGH SOCIETY), Drama Desk nominee Carey Mulligan (THE SEAGULL), director Adam Shankman ('Hairspray'), and musicians Bono & The Edge (SPIDERMAN: TURN OFF THE DARK).

25th Annual Independent Spirit Award Nominees Announced

Film Independent, the non-profit arts organization that produces the Spirit Awards and the Los Angeles Film Festival, announced nominations this morning for the 25th Film Independent Spirit Awards. Nominees for Best Feature include (500) Days Of Summer, Amreeka, Precious, Sin Nombre and The Last Station. Taraji P. Henson and Matt Dillon also announced finalists for the Acura Someone to Watch Award, the Truer Than Fiction Award, and the Piaget Producers Award. A Serious Man was selected for the Robert Altman Award, which is given to one film's director, casting director and ensemble cast.

82nd Academy Awards Take Place Tonight March 7, 2010!

Tonight, March 7, stars from all over the world will come out for the 82nd Annual Academy Awards Ceremony at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood California. Co-hosted by Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin, the ceremony will be broadcast live by the ABC Television Network beginning at 5 p.m. PT/ 8 p.m. ET. The Oscar presentation also will be televised live in more than 200 countries worldwide.

'Precious', Bridges, Sibide Win at 25th Annual Spirit Awards

The 25th Annual Film Independent Spirit Awards were handed out Friday, March 5, in Los Angeles. The film 'Precious' took home Best Feature honors while its stars Mo'nique and Gabourey Sibide won for Best Supporting Female and Best Female Lead respectively. Jeff Bridges won Best Male Lead for the film 'Crazy Heart', and Woody Harrelson picked up Best Supporting Male for 'The Last Messenger'. The full list of winners is below.

Eddie Izzard Hosts the 25th Annual Fillm Independent Spirit Awards, 3/5

Comedian Eddie Izzard will host the 25th Annual Film Independent Spirit Awards, Film Independent has announced. The awards will take place the night of March 5th at LA Live's event deck in Los Angeles. Film Independent said of the comedian, 'Izzard's tangential, absurd, bizarre, and surreal comic narratives are lauded for their creativity and wit, which suits the irreverent, laid-back style of the Spirit Awards.'

'Precious', Morgan Freeman, Gabourney Sibide Win at 41st NAACP Image Awards

The 41st annual NAACP Image Awards were held on Friday, February 26 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California. Amongst the winners were the film 'Precious' which picked up the award for Best Motion Picture, Morgan Freeman won for his role in 'Invictus' and Gabourney Sibide garnered Best Actress for her leading role in 'Precious'. The ceremony was hosted by NAACP Image Award nominee and Tony Award winner Anika Noni Rose and bestselling author and actor Hill Harper. As previously announced, Tyler Perry, received the Chairman's Award, and Wyclef Jean received the Vanguard Award.
